@john146only (continued). if you only have your understanding to lean on, then feel free to share that too. I might learn something. Just don't make it higher than others. Or at least, higher than the reader of your comment, who in this case is me.
@john146only I agree. It is a matter of world view. And no, I wouldn't demonize you for putting supreme value on Jesus. Is that what you are doing? Can you speak of him apart from the Bible (as Paul, James, John, Peter, etc. did)? Do you have experience with him apart from what your pastor told you was true? If you do have experiences with God, personal ones that show your humanity and not your theology, share these. I would be glad to listen. I bet others would too. (cont.)
@john146only Your worship of it as if it were God makes me feel sorry for you. Your insistence that your understanding of it is the only one that matters makes me angry. What is True is bigger than you. believe what you must, but PLEASE don't set yourself up as someone who has enough understanding of Truth to speak down to or about anyone else.

Anne Lamott is a universalist. Hitler, Pol Pot, unrepentant rapists, everyone gets into heaven. She has also heartily endorsed 2 New Age books, one by New Ager Marianne Williamson and the New Age "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. She also has recommended reading New Thought writer Emmet Fox.
In this book, she writes about wearing a bracelet blessed by the Dalai Lama. What! The Dalai Lama is in spiritual darkness .
A vacuous middle brow prattler indeed of the Williamson/Gilbert variety.
The popularity of this pap is what should give pause - it reflects the complete absence of intellectual rigour rampant amongst the masses in the supposedly best educated era of human history.
@fctchk I would like to know what your point is. The rant or criticism is quite clear_ but what is it about? Anger? Arrogance? No, really_ I am curious.
@TheGranti7a Hell apparently hath no fury as a vacuous middle brow prattler fan scorned. See also post by your precursor, self styled passive aggressive pop psychoanalyst "cuppalentilsoop" - any resemblance to "chicken soup for the soul" purely coincidental.
@fctchk: I was curious to discover directly the reason(s) for your criticisms_
Yet it sounds as though my comments also risk becoming the target of perhaps a verbal habit of indiscriminate rejection from you. Therefore the original criticism posted by you is still not making sense, fctchk...
Have you an exclusive education, the masses as you say, would not commonly access? Perhaps you have gained an intellectual rigor worth facilitating access? Maybe others might gain?
It's cigarette paper.
