It was a legitimate point. Why do people in poverty, especially Africans, persist in having more children than they can afford to feed. They have 6 goddamn children, one recently born, so they will have concieved while knowing full they wont be able to support it.
Read the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act of 2001. There is nothing 'startling' about Zimbabwe's hyperinflation, which is the original source of all their economic problems. The lie is that it is mismanagement by President Mugabe, or even land reform. There is a lot of money behind the MDC, and my bet much of it comes from LonRho.
I mite not have understood what you said, but are you standing up for robert mugabe and the way he is destroying zimbabwe?as I said before im not exactly sure wat ur on about
The fact is that Zimbabwe is not under any 'massive' sanctions. Thats just Zanu-PF propaganda that attempts to divert blame way from its self for how dramatically they have run the economy into the ground.
Go to govtrack (google it, as I can't post URLs here), and search for the "Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act" of 2001. About 9 international financial institutions are mentioned which are forbidden to lend money to the government of Zimbabwe.
You are right in your assurtion that international financial organisations will not leand to Zimbabwe, but then again, no one will. The Zimbabwean government has only proven time and again that it will only spend any money it lends on propping up Mugabe's corrupt leadership and into buying things like riot gear for the police and radio blocking equipment. You know that Mugabe spent more then US$200million on the army last year.
That is true only to a very limited extent. In return for loans the Chinese have been making some very demanding demands. Essentially Mugabe is mortgaging Zimbabwe's future, it is very sad.
And another thing. Overnight, all the donor aid to their government budget disappeared, creating an immediate balance of payment crisis. This is the reality the MDC does not want known, especially as they are calling for more sanctions, and even invasion. The MDC knows how unpopular and unelectable being associated with economic misery makes them, even as they call for more sanctions. That is why they deny that Zimbabwe is under sanctions.
Yeah, you carry on spewing your Zanu-PF propaganda. I am sure that is exactly what Mugabe and all his cronies want us to think.
The fact is that things have gotten so bad that even the Chines don't want to have anything to do with them. I should know, I am in China working with people who write policy.
Not true, they have given them all kinds of loans. Who do you think is financing the agricultural reforms (talk about unintended consequences). Out with the Brits, in with the Chinese.
The truth is no one is financing the agricultural reforms. It is true that the Chinese are giving some, very limited, loans to Zim but the money Zim gets has only go into propping up Mugabie's corrupt rule by buying the loyalty of his cronies and funding the army to oppress the people.
facts are stubborn its not a matter of what party you support,im totally neutral coz none of the guys are good you should look at facts tigerone has some good points maybe too inclined to Zanu but 95% trueread my next item on Zim please.
this country and its people have a great potential, they are no savages or anything but highly educated people who know to use their brains. remember that zim was once after sa on top of all black states. it will be very interesting to seeing it prosper again once the world got rid of this criminal calling himself "honourable"
I am a stalwart believer in a freedom of expression. Calling me names and cursing me like this just further displays the gutter thinking that remains in the minds of people who see nothing wrong in the oppression that Mugabe is currently practising upon his own people.
Simply put, your comment displays your stupidity, your racism and your arrogance.
Enjoy the rest of your life - but don't do it here... Any further comment by yourself will be removed...
thanks for rebuking insults...oppression is bad but Mugabe also has some good points,he made some good progress and we were totally different from any other african state save for SA in 1999,please remember that and productivity was at its highest too not in Rhodesia but in Zim 1999-2000
The weaponless protesters will just be mowed down by the Zimbabwean soldiers and police. And their deaths will be ignored. Here in America Zimbabwe doesn't even make the news. I have to go to BBC News online to find out anything about it.
you dnt need to send money. you just need to push the world leaders to forget about iraq, where their is no point, and start thinking about africa, where all the help is needed, darfur, harare, drc just to name some. africa is a continent with trasures waiting to be unlocked, but not if the world turns its back on it.
please can you guys just shut up and leave emotions to your houses facts are stubborn,Harare as it in is on Google images was built under black rule and Zim's economy was one of the best in 1997,until the dispute with Britain
...thats where the mystery lies do the math...the land reform was a noble cause that went wrong and the world should have supported it irregardless of race if everyone was so concerned about the Zim citizens not their white folks
so if land reforms was so big an issue, why not do it when you gain independence. It was all a political stunt and half those war vets were not even born in 1980. But dnt get me wrong, im all for land reforms, but the way he did it. My god that was just downright human abuse and everyone says its a good idea gone wrong. Truly was, 4000000000-1 for the us dollar, highest inflation, lowest life expectancy etc....
the land issue was shelved for 10 years under the agreement at lancaster, the the next pm from britain asked for a reprieve and they paid small amounts, when t.blair took over he refused to pay up and thats when zim and Britain argued and thats when the "war vets went crazy coz they knew they were never going to get anything.and Mugabe let them take over more for votes I guess.
he exactly did that. and they were not war vets, as they were not born the time we won independence, well 90% of them are not. plus that does give any right to mugabe to do wat he has and is doing. there is no justification for his tyranny.
sorry but I don't remember myself justifying anything, but I'm just telling the story as it is.His methods maybe wrong but the point still remains why is everyone not trying to help the people instead of trying to get their people of choice in power???you need to get the whole history of the country to understand the story if you dont already know it if you are zimbo.
i am a zimbo and i knw my countries history. Buy your posts, you seem to be jumping. one minute, his right, next minute....im quite confused. the fact is, what mugabe is doind is wrong. no questions asked. what the world is doing, is wrong too. they sit on their backsides and do not care because quite frankly there is no oil in zimbabwe, so unless their (1st world coutnrie) pockets are kept healthy, they dont care how many other people out there are dying or struggling.
The biggest failure of Democracy in Africa is that unsophisticated, illiterate, uninformed and easily influenced citizens can replace those that fully sustain them with others that fully impoverish them.
Actually Zim has a highly literate population. They are "easily influenced" only by death. During the last election, villagers understood that the government controlled the food aid, and if they didn't have enough votes for Mugabe, they would see little aid.
And the suburbs who housed most of the opposition votes ended up literally destroyed by "Operation Cleanup", which in the name of "slum clearance" destroyed many middle class homes and small shops.
A very small percentage of Zimbabweans are illiterate, children at a very young age are taught how to read and write in English so please do not tell lies.
.........theyll just say, you elected them, deal with and keep imposing sanctions and get further away from the problem.

it can vary from between three or four months to three or four years - the

shaking their heads and thinking about sanctions.
