Gyros (pronounced euros) can be either lamb or chicken, but it has a lot of herbs and spices to disguise the natural flavor of the meat. It's more like thinly sliced pieces of hot slow roasted lamb/chicken sausage. I was in Greece last summer. It tastes better there.

Oh by the way it is phonetically pronounced- the very beginning is a gh sound with the g going silent immediately leading to a "he" which in turn immediately melds to something like" ear-o"...but under it you have to make it sound like the girl said "Euro". Don't forget to roll your "r" ever so slightly. I lived w/a greek chick. Father owned a shipping line and everything. Trust me.. she spent a whole day "staightening" me out on this.

Gyros are pronounced "euro" just like the currency of the EU. I was in Greece last summer. That's how the Greeks themselves say it.

Gyros (pronounced euros) can be either lamb or chicken, but it has a lot of herbs and spices to disguise the natural flavor of the meat. It's more like thinly sliced pieces of hot slow roasted lamb/chicken sausage. I was in Greece last summer. It tastes better there.
