I liked his interpretation, the ornaments are in the score ... I am looking for the Suite 1 bach and without ornaments, and found, that hinders me a bit and I would embark on the task of playing a piece of the suite, its interpretation is masterful
(sorry I do not speak English is the translation of google) greetings from Chile
Excellent tempo selection. Sensitive interpretation, especiall on the repeat, excellent trills, very stately and tastefully played. It doesn't get better than this.
This is the first version of this song that I've ever heard, and I like this 10x more then any of the other versions of this I've heard. I am planing to play this next year for my college audition, and also play at this tempo. Thanks!
I've heard this piece played at roughly your chosen tempo quite often. I seem to remember years ago being told that there are two types of Courante - the faster type with 'running' figuration, and the more rhythmically complex type (French, perhaps?) such as this one, which should be played in a rather more stately manner. Anyway - a nice performance, which has re-ignited my interest in this suite, and hopefully will lead to some practice.
Judging from your comment you obviously know this music well! Bravo! Personally I find the Presto and Gigue most difficult technically, and probably the prelude and Courante most difficult Stylistically. I have heard many versions of this piece from John Williams, Eliot Fisk, etc etc. Yes they play it faster which is Brilliant! I personnaly like to play it slower however.
Nice job, really clean. I like the ornaments. Stylistically this is and the passagio are the hardest of the suite. My one complaint would be the tempo, this is supposed to be a courante, which is a lively dance, you're playing it more like an french allemande (usually people play the 996 allemande too fast). Try to make it rythmic and exciting, listen to a Fisk recording of it.
I used to play this piece faster and use "Double Dotting" but in the end I settled on the slower tempo. Thanks for the comment! BTW: Are you a Player?
Yes, I play. I'm finishing up my undergrad at New England Conservatory. I plan on playing this suite in my senior rectial... The courante is beautiful even at a more relaxed tempo (most audiences might prefer this), as you play, but I was saying that Bach intended it to be a bit faster. Either way works fine.
Man! U play "right" I mean without mistakes! But this is not enough to be distinguished! I mean first you chose the easiest movement of this piece and u played its half!(i'ld love to hear Gigue for instance ;)) Second, at least do some ornamentations in the reprise! it's monotone like this! You can't make us hear the same music twice... we're not attracted anymore! ;)
Hi Johancomstedt, I am grateful for your comment. To be honest, I would like to study even more on ornaments myself- there is a wealth of info out there! Bach always provides great oppurtunities for them! BTW... Loved your rendition of York's "Sunburst" Bravo! 5 stars!
Hi there! Glad you enjoyed it. Bach translates so very well on the guitar... My favorite composer for sure Bravo on your videos... I enjoyed them! Cheers.

You don't have to name any particular school but I was wondering if you've been to school for classical guitar? Great playing by the way!
