  • Shake the blood, Bruce! Rock on.

  • That kid is very tense when he made the slice, you can tell by the elbows bowing in. But a nice clean cut though, little more practice and it'd be perfect

  • hey nice vid , i live in nsw and hav bout 2 of your swords , are any of you trained in tamashigiri ?

    keep up the good reviews

  • Craig the guy in the Vid is an instructor, we all like to have a go though

  • @globalgear

Wait... He is an instructor... for what? Surely not for Tameshigiri. Watching this really sounded off some alarms for me. The stances and cuts are totally wrong, sometimes even dangerous. Show beginners how to hold a sword and how to cut BEFORE letting them practice with live blades. And why is the camera man standing beside(!) beginners who are doing their first cuts? This is more atutorial about how not to do Tameshigiri. Safety first! Swords are no toys.

  • Do these guys know which way verticle is?

"I will now do a verticle cut."

...Proceeds to do a horizontal cut.

  • I wish someone could do a test to destruction on a few of these Katanas from the 200 to 300 dollar range that are on the market ,cutting mats proves its sharp thats all, a cheap $50 stainless katana can cut these mats as long as your carefull with it, this proves jack shit....Does anyone know of any test to destruction on Hanwei blades or Cheness etc......

  • Oh and wizz, global will ship worldwide at reasonable rates, it just happens that I live close to their Knox store.

If you see something you like, just order online.

New video should also come on soon with the pirate cutlass (needs good technique but will cut as it's quite sharp) and Sakura V2

  • Gasdorf - Don't know where you bought it but if it was thru global, you should be able to get similar results.

gaurdian - I know...too much upper body. I don't do my iaido that way. should improve with more cutting. this was really our first go at it.

James- there's something neat to me about doing it in the traditional manner.

wizzbang - YOU DON"T LIKE MY STAND! I'm proud of that modular thing. Cuts half mats, full mats both horizontally and vertically. Put it together myself as well.

  • I have often heard that Globgear has some nice blade. Wrong part of the world for me to try them though.

That has got to be the most unique and odd cutting stand I think I have ever seen.

Jordan, Dude! Please don't lock your elbows when cutting.

4:26 "Bugger"! I know what you mean, done that myself. Missed using the monouchi by... that much.

Jordan again, that nukitsuke scared me. Gave me shivers hearing the ha ride on the inside of the saya like that.

All in all, nice cutting gentlemen.

  • I just can't see the appeal in Tameshigiri. My idea of fun with swords is going to town on blackberry bushes - With 2-3 acres of blackberries growing out of control, I can swing and slice my way through bushes until I can't lift my arms. *bored, and wants to be back in Melbourne with his swords already*

  • if i could suggest something global gear next timedont just use arm streanth alone try and throwyour weight into it to and use your hip i was doing some cutting today accually and i tested what im telling you now and i found using the hip works much better than just arm streanth. :)

  • i have HRC 1045 (#45 High Carbon Steel) can i get similar results with my brides sword??

  • As one of the people involved in this video, I can assure you they are the 'real deal'. Both swords were taken straight out of the 'box', cleaned, oiled and then used to cut. They both had clean sharp edges. I have bought many blades from Global and am looking forward to doing another video with these and newer GG blades.

As these are production blades, your mileage can vary (an occasional blade may need sharpened / polished) but Global do their best to make things right, of that I'm certain.

  • So if i oredered that sword would it be the real thing. cause i live in perth would be able to fil an order if i lived in perth??

  • yeah global gear ships worldwide so yeah you will be able to get one :D

  • Hey are the Swords u sell in Globlegear are they real or are they unsharpened?

  • They are Very real as you can see in this Video with one of the G-900 swords
