Tokollo has been acquitted of culpable homicide charges. This was the ruling of the judge, after Tshabalala's lawyer asked for the case to be thrown out due to insufficient evidence. Tshabalala was facing the possibility of life in prison if he had been found guilty. A jubilant Tshabalala was reportedly excited at the verdict and said that he felt that a huge burden had been lifted of his shoulder and he can now focus on his music.

The tragedy took place in 2001. Tshabalala attempted to evade being tried, fearing that if found guilty he would be sentenced to life.He pleaded not guilty in October last year. Its first witness, a Sergeant fingered Tshabalala as the driver then conceded that a BMW had first hit a taxi and then swerved into another lane, where it hit the businesswomans car.
