  • it takes a long time to rewire your brain but its is scientifically proven that it is possible and especially for people with social anxiety,i keep on failing all the time but i feel that i am gradually getting stronger

  • yo i remember that in your earlier days you were not taking any meds so i hope you are still being strong and not taking anything,i see a mirror image of myself in you its just i am brown lol anyways all i wanted to tell u is i have tried a lot of different types of medication and in the end they make things worse,CBT is the best thing but the hardest so i just wanted you to know that if you can get by without meds for now do it and stick with CBT.i am just saying :)

  • Have you ever been out on a date?Sometimes,I get scared whenever I think about dating a

girl. With social anxiety, its going to be extremely hard for us to date people.

Most girls didn't like me in that boyfriend-girlfriend kind of way. Also,I have mixed feelings about dating people in the future. The first one is:they might not like me and look down on me because of my social anxiety or the woman, who I'm dating, will accept me regardless of whatever I'm going through, mentally.

  • @malik8991 Sadly the only thing CLOSE to an actual date I've been on was my high school senior prom, which I was obligated to go to. Yeah, SA makes things very difficult in the dating world, especially in a culture where men are "supposed" to make the first move in asking a girl out. I have those same fears as you and I think it's really important the other person be okay with my SA if they don't have it themselves and to be understanding.

  • @malik8991 Another fear I have is, what if they say yes and do like me? I'd be afraid of messing things up somehow or maybe they'd find me boring. We should probably work on building our confidence and self-esteem before plunging into the dating scene imo. Also, how do you know if most girls didn't see you as relationship material in the past? You'd be surprised at how some may have felt but never showed it. It's easy for us to think that no one will like us, but it's not true at all.

  • Wow,I didn't know that you were 28.You look like you should be 21 or 22,not 28.

My social anxiety grew out of the humiliation that I suffered back in my final high school days.

What caused your anxiety to develop? By the way,my mother ordered some Seredyn for me and hopefully it will work for me.Do you think that it is worst to be black and have social anxiety?

  • @malik8991 My anxiety probably started right around 12 when I abruptly had to move here from Maryland. Also, it didn't help being in a totally new culture where the people I encountered were not very friendly to me. It did get much better once I changed schools to where I became pretty much cured, but came back stronger than ever my 2nd year of college which is when I transferred colleges and encountered another culture shock I guess. Needless to say, I don't do well with change, lol.

  • @malik8991 Oh man, I should've done a follow-up video to the Seredyn one I made since it stopped working for me after about 2 weeks of taking it. I didn't even get halfway through the bottle, but maybe I just have a high resistance to things. I hope it does work for you better than it did me. Yeah, I think being black and anxious can be more stressful because mental disorders are very misunderstood and even mostly unspoken of in the black community, but I think it's slowly changing.

  • Having a good therapist really helpped me get out of a majority of my anxiety issues. Sometimes I wish I still had the insurance to go see her again. Now I only have anxiety in classrooms. It's nice to see videos from you again. I thought you stopped making vlogs until I clicked on your channel. Now I get email notifications when you make new videos. The new Zelda is pretty awesome. I'm afraid to buy a DS. Nintendo keeps making new ones.

  • @IcyBlue487 Yep, I am still doing vlogs :) The therapist I see now offers a pretty low rate and doesn't accept insurance, so maybe if you wanted to see one again you could find someone that did that where you could afford it. Oh yeah, one of my biggest anxiety challenges is being in a group so I totally understand the classroom thing. Glad you're liking the new Zelda, it is awesome. Just wish there were more areas to explore since I'm very close to the end now.

  • @IcyBlue487 The 3DS will be getting a revision eventually like in one or 1.5 years like Nintendo usually does with their handhelds, but it's a very cool system and there's finally some good titles coming out for it, not to mention the price is lower too, so if you want one, you should get it. You won't be disappointed imo. The PS Vita comes out in a couple months too so maybe decide and compare then if you're looking into getting a handheld. Both are pretty cool though.

  • I can completely relate to this, because I had my first therapist appointment this year too. I felt like it was a little pointless, because I need to speak to people who understand and not just pity me. Sometimes I feel like nothing will satisfy me even after I get over SA, because it leaves you wanting everything to make up for what it takes away from you. *sigh*...Please keep updating, it helps knowing I'm not the only one going through this, even though I wouldnt wish it on anyone:]

  • Hi Chris, when I look at you,I see myself because I'm black and my name is Chris too.

I'm still in social anxiety therapy and I just found a new therapist.I'm still in the process of getting a job and getting my college education. Thanks for making these videos.I need these types of videos because I'm 20 years old and my anxiety is so severe.I go outside from time to time, but it is still bad. So again, thank you. May God bless you. How old are you?

  • @malik8991 Yeah, life is so much harder with this, just doing the simplest things can be a chore but that's good you're heading towards school and a job. Really hope you get better and that everything works out. Mine is pretty severe as well, but I'm slowly recovering. And I'm 28 by the way. Be cool if I would've sought help when I was your age as I'm sure I'd be in a really good place in life by now, but oh well. It's never too late to start living I suppose.

  • You have no idea how proud of you I am!

  • it helped me to understand a great deal about life, thoughts and real freedom and independance. (by the way krishnamurti is not that crazy religious guy who is also called Krishnamurti, in contratri the krishnamurti i send you asks each human to put aside al organised forms of religions and look, just LOOK).

  • ... Before i was totally fine. I had real friends and good times. I fell on a philosopher while i spent a year in Cambodia. there is a dialogue on youtube between Krishnamurti and Dr. W Anderson on live, human beings, though, knowledge and freedom. It starts of with "knowledge and transformation" and is in total 18h long. It is brilliant to me, so perfectly clear and helping to be able to observe yourself with a great deal of attention what is going on. Today i am glad i had social anxiety, ...

  • Hello Chris, i am from germany and realy apreciate your videos. I can see alot of connections to myself. I started to feel fear in the presence of others at my university time, it came in short and strong periods and got worse afterwards as my thoughts were nurishing the fear, sustaining them and i was fighting bitterly trying to avoid them. What made it propably stronger is that i naturally try to seek truth on live and started thinking and thinking alot...

  • How long have you been driving? I'm learning how to drive right now and I will be in driving school soon when my mother gets the money for it. But thanks for making these videos..they really help people like me because I can relate to what you are saying and then that inspires me to do better with my anxiety. Also, you should go on this social anxiety site called"Social Anxiety Support".While on this website, you can talk back and forth with people who also suffer. I've been on it all year long.

  • @malik8991 hehehe! I got my license. been driving for a now till a year. so went to a online school. I got to "I drive safely". You can find it at google.

  • I know what you are feeling.....my name is Chris too and my anxiety is really bad.I handle it better when I'm out of the house....but it is still a serious struggle.

Remember that everything will be okay and that your'e not alone.Even though we have social anxiety,we are still winners and normal people.Therapy helps a lot,so keep going.I know what it feels like when nobody understands the pain that we are in.But stay positive and do your best on a daily basis. God bless.

  • It seems like you've been making very little progress in your life if at all since we last heard from you more than a year ago. You see, I have realized that social anxiety will hold you back if you don't interact with people on a regular basis. In order to progress in this world and better your life, you have to be social to some extent on a regular basis, especially towards people who have the potential to help pull you up in life. Your therapist is one great step towards helping you out.

  • I'm glad you saw a therapist, I see one and it helps. Social anxiety is the worst, I'm supposed to go to a party with some people right now but nope, I only know a couple of them , so instead I'm gona sit at home and watch breaking bad... Take care

  • @fortdudley Yeah, I definitely have felt some changes this week due to the session. I know though how limiting SA can be and everyone gets better at their own pace and mine is probably gonna be a slow one. I don't blame you for staying home from the party, I wouldn't be able to either so don't feel bad. In time I'm sure we'll be able to do social events of that nature though.

  • good to see your update. one thing that helps me with quicker progress was recording the sessions . i found my old cell records up to an hour, then i put them on my harddrive to review if i forget . You'll have breakthroughs that are important to recall when you're down . Recording is a godsend for recall. Plus it makes the sessions more valuable .

  • You're a very handsome man. Do you get advances from women often despite your SA?

  • So glad I'm subscribed to you man. In an ocean of slop you're a real find. You remind me of Colbent [YT . com. /user/colbent]. He kind of sends up his own social anxiety -- please do give him a look.

  • WELL DONE!!! This made my day :).

  • "Tell me about your mahzah" haha. It's cool to see a new video from you and good that you've started therapy. I don't have a 3DS- I don't even have a regular DS. I haven't been playing games too much lately. Yes, there are plenty of abandoned things in and around the city. I would guess that it's probably just the outter shell of the boat. it's probably been gutted out.

  • @StealthyBob Thanks, yeah, I am slowly seeing improvements in myself so far and getting out a bit more than I used to as well. I've bought more games last year than I did this year since there were more interesting games out that I liked. If you feel interested in getting a 3DS though, you should probably wait since there's likely to be a re-design right around the corner. Yeah, it's unfortunate how some areas are in Detroit. They're slowly starting to build new stuff around though.

  • glad to hear u gave up aspartame i aswell have stopped chewing gum now for couple yrs, theirs allot we should give up

  • Glad to see u friend!

  • Therapist! Good job! That's the way to go. Services are out there to help you, use em!

  • I can't believe people just left their boat there, and no one wants it !

  • @chris3443 Haha, yeah, it's not an unusual sight around here really. Boats, cars, and lots of houses, even some that were abandoned before anyone even moved into them.

  • im curious WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU just went out and filmed your street with people walking by and seeing you do this, how would you feel ?

anxious i know but how exactly ?

would you sweat a lot, would you feint ?

whats the worst that can happen ?

  • @DHammerr I know if I tried doing that I'd be too anxious to even speak coherently. I've tried before and it didn't work out; could only go for a few seconds. Don't think I would faint, but I'd feel out of sorts and a bit sick. The worst that can happen is that someone sees me and finds it odd. That's all which isn't so bad. The thing about SA is that it's mostly internal and the intense feelings of discomfort are based on a slew of negative thoughts.

  • @ConsciousCloud hmm you do have a more severe chase of social anxiety than i had, i just went out and did what i wanted to do without caring what people will think and how they would perceive me and to a certain extent that worked for me

for you however this wouldnt really work, maybe you need to take smaller steps at a time, like for example, film yourself walking down the street for 10 secs, then the next day 10 more secs etc, i wonder if ull ever get rid of SA

  • Thanks for the update friend! Be well. Life aint easy... but we are all looked after somehow :)

  • Nice to see a new video. Congrats on starting therapy. I hope it works for you. :)

Aspartame has actually been studied a lot and there is no proof that it's actually harmful, at least in reasonable doses (like under 25-50 cans of diet coke a day...). There has been a lot of fear-mongering based on irrational beliefs though, which is why such beliefs stay around. Just putting it out there... Check out this great, factual video on the topic of artificial sweeteners: watch?v=VUo2XW0z218

  • Just subscribed a few days ago, lol

  • Glad you're back... don't make it a year next time...

  • So glad to see you!!!!!!! *hugs* ! Make more vids please.

  • Good to see ya! Thanks for the update! (:

  • Glad to see you're well. I hope the therapy works out okay for you.

  • lol i was kind of anticipating that you'd upload a video this month.
