  • ur foot was not turned out

  • In ballet, your back is still supposed to be lifted when you go into a penchee. The title is a little deceiving, I was expecting the ballet twist on the penchee, not the gymnastic kind. :) But still very lovely, nevertheless.

  • Excellente gymnaste de compétitions

  • Don't see logic in yr 1st sentence! I'm only a retired Royal Ballet dancer who then trained 4 yrs as a teacher (2 of my pupils dance in RB) & I also won awards for floors I choreoegraphed for int'l gymnasts. What I claim is the FACT that classical ballet training being so different it is wrong to give non-ballet stuff classical terms, which imply they are being done balletically when they are completely different. None of this doesn't mean I don't like/ appreciate gymnastics, far from it.

  • @MrKLT1945 I agree with you, I'm a ballet dancer! :)

  • To all of you being obnoxious, different sports re appropriate terms all the time. You don't see basketball players getting pissed at soccer players for using the term dribble because it's basic concept. Same goes for ballet and gymnastics... technique is tweaked based on the specific demands of the sport, neither is better than the other.

  • holy crap!!

  • I love doing that!

  • Let's just call it a standing split as it has nothing to do with ballet - all gymnasts have a bizarrely inflated opinion of their 'ballet' technique. The poor dears can't even stand properly with their hollow ]backs but they sure like picking up ballet terms and using them as if they have had advanced ballet training knowledge and by implication are true artistes!

  • @MrKLT1945 Haha okay, let's see you do any of your superior, incredible ballet technique on a four inch wide beam or after doing a 5 skill tumbling pass. Get over yourself, they are different sports, they use different techniques.

  • @xylophone Yeah, we all know they are totally different but claIming ballet terms for non-balletic stuff is plain dumb. Would I claim a cartwheel as a mix of port de bras and grand rond de jambe? NO! Gymnasts who know nothing about ballet technique but persist in demonstrating 'ballet' are the ppl who should get over themselves and stop trying to claim skills they do not have. Their own - dangerous - sport, with its specific language, is hard enough. BTW tips of pointe shoes are TINY.

  • @MrKLT1945 You have a pretty bad inferiority complex. I've been a gymnast and taken ballet for 14 years and I love them both. I hate it when people on either side claim that they're better and their sport is harder blah blah blah whatever, it's not. But claiming that a pirouette or an arabesque is a completely different thing because one is done on the floor and one is done on a beam is stupid. Stop.

  • I don't care if that was ballet or gymnastics. That was cool.

  • i like ballet penches better but it was good for gymnastics

  • That's a 6 o'clock, not a penche.

  • @tappenfeat you mean a needle?

  • @britrotor it's both a 6'o clock and a needle, it depends on what area/studio you go to, some call it a 6'o clock, some call it a needle, it's still the same move :)

  • horrible, no lo sabe hacer, eso es gimnasia

  • @MagicAssProductions So why did she label the video, “arabesque penchée”, when that term is uniquely ballet, specifically for ballet, and a bona fide ballet technical term? Perhaps gymnastics should come up with another term of their own.

  • this is called a charlotte spiral in figure skating, I'm trying to do that

  • relax your hands in the beginning! otherwise very good (:

  • an awful ballet penche, but if it was meant for gymnastics.....still awful

  • amazing!

  • wow, she never called this video "BALLET ARABESQE AND BALLET PENCHEE" plus if you dont like the way she did it rude "Omg, thats crap i know how to do it better" comments are just attention seeking.

  • @SunmitSidhu well arabesque and penchee are ballet steps sooo

  • @AFdancergirlio ya well they originated in ballet but other sports do them in different ways..sooo...

  • @SunmitSidhu But “Arabesque Penchée” is a ballet term, a technical ballet term. So as not to mislead dancers or dance lovers, perhaps the world of gymnastics should come up with their own term, or go back to one they used to use before, a “scale”, I think is what this position is called in gymnastics and/or tumbling. Then people’s expectations would be different and perhaps some of these admittedly rude comments could be avoided.

  • @TheLoneRanga lmao... wows

  • arabesque penchee

  • aaaiiiiiiiii

  • you might be flexibel but ur teqnique sucks

  • I am jealous.

  • okay I was expecting a ballet penche lol

  • estou sofrendo pra conseguir isso até janeiro.. minha prova!!

  • how did she do that?

  • You are FANTASTIC! You're a beautiful person, dancer and gymnast.=)) I ove your videos!

  • You dropped your chest in the arabesque, it should have stayed upright.

You also need to turn out your supporting leg, not just your working leg.

And lastly, the correct name for that isn't a penche, it's a 6 o clock.

In a penche you wouldn't use your hands.

But then again, I'm going by the standards of ballet so I wouldn't really know much about the correct way to execute these skills in gymnastics.

But other than that, your flexibility is great, keep working!

  • @JennnBabyyyy

As a dancer, I totally agree. I was trained in Vaganova style, and this is not a penche. Her turn out is not good - noticed that on a previous video - and there is very little arm control.

  • good for like gymnastics, but this isnt exactly a ballet penche

  • @angelbaby233 If you look behind her, she's at a gymnastics center. It was meant to be a gymnastic penchee.

  • Nice.
