  • These things helped me through Shadow Moses...

  • anybody remember b rations..

  • had my share of c-rations in my day...was all good to me...even the ham and eggs...when you were in the field, anything tasted good...especially liked the can of bread cut in half with ham or beef slices on it...the cakes were good also. Sometimes the C's were better than the chow hall food..Just being honest.

  • @allbro23kids

i often thought the same of MRE's

  • LOL cigarettes xD

  • wait those rations come with cigs? thats awesome. lol

  • @masterownedu they did i got a few accessory packs with cigarettes in them paided 10.00 for each one. did see just the cigarettes on e-bay up for bids. they were up to 40.00 a pack. lol

  • @wizart49 lol dang. were they still usable?

  • @wizart49 lol that pac is only 1.80 $ in my place

  • @masterownedu yeah back then in the accsorey pack of the ration they put

    toilet paper

    cigerattes

and a whole bunch of other shit

  • LOL Nice intro!

  • i still have the little tin of peanut butter from my last C Rat..1969--no joke,i brushed the can with wax when i got home and it's still "like new"

  • @wetcanoedogs i have about 12 cans of c-rations including peanut butter even have fruitcake would not even try to eat them.

  • III CORP, Cantu for me. I remember C-rats well - they were older than I was but not bad. Menthol cigs were the best since they were so old...oh for the days when a couple of packs salems or kools or a couple of days of C-Rats would get you laid..

  • lol screw this...(takes out M4)

  • .

    Must. Not. Vomit...

    .

  • @mikeoforlando some were better than some of the MRE i have eaten .lol

  • I really hated the ham and lima beans!!

  • @ATBirdMan i think that one was the worst one

  • FYI, there were no C-Rations produced after 1958, when the "Meal, Combat, Individual" (MCI) was introduced. The difference - a "ration" is an entire day's food, while a "meal" is just that. The first MCIs were produced using the same packing techniques and similar menu items as the final series of C-Rations, thus the name "C-Ration" stuck, even though it was technically incorrect.

  • A gourmand's delight! Much better than starving to death, though.

  • Heating C rations with C4 on an engineer stake in the Nam .Mmmm.

  • Hi don! Good news, I'm going to start putting together a LRRP (long range recon patrol) Medic Impression! My unit does LRRP too.

  • is this going to be a video. if so let me know when you upload it. not been on youtube to much do not know what to upload .did get a few new items that i am happy about. if i can figure out why my editing program is not working i will upload a video. do have pictures on facebook.

  • a vietnam vet I know we all call "Colonel" (cause he is a colonel) said c-rats suck. He said his 2 favorites were I think Pound cake and fruit cocktail? Something like that

  • i liked the pound cake and fruit cocktail but hated the fruitcake and still do.lol

  • I've never had a c rat. I always wanted to serve in vietnam but it was before my time. I am rather spoiled on MRE's nowadays.

  • you would not want to eat then today to old . the ones i have i wiuld never try to eat them. i do have MREs here at the house some were nasty.lol just like some of the C-rations were

  • I had a c-rat once when I was six. It was 1984 and that was the WORST thing I'd ever put in my mouth! LOL! I'd been spoiled by MREs that friend in the reserves had given me and my brother. I remember opening the entree can in the c ration and getting sick just off the smell! It smelled like dog food! Tasted about the same too. The crackers were awful too! :P

  • yea some were bad but you had to eat them. the LRPM i think that is what they were called were not bad. they were hard to get. i get MRE at the surplus store. they are changing them. some are bad. i had a veggie burger yuk. that was like sause on cardboard.lol lol i heard the one with pizzia in it is worse. i be getting a few for Christmas.lol

  • @wizart49 LRP (long range patrol) Rats were freeze dried and FD is STILL a great way to do Long Term Storage (LTS) or camping/patrolling chow. I like the veggie burger! My favorite is prob Beef Stew. Have you ever had one of the cold weather MREs? Their basically the same thing as a LRP ration. Also, the Army's coming out with a new ration called the "First Strike Ration" (FRS). I found a thing about it on Youtube. Check it out. It looks pretty cool!

  • Oh, wow. They have a pizza MRE now? Damn. I remember the chicken and rice not being bad, and it's all about the jalepeno cheese spread on crackers. Good times. Too bad we had to get all healthy and stuff and lose the smokes.

  • my dad was in the miltary and he said he enjoyed this he was a officer i think

  • glad he like it . tell him i said welcome home

  • Man, did I love those cans of fruit cake. You opened the can with a P-38 and the cake swelled up. If I could buy them at a store now, i would. This video brings back memories. By the way, after I left the service, the bleeding hearts made the military take the cigs out. You could die in a firefight but heavens no, we don't want you to stunt your growth smoking.

  • it is ashame they took the cigs out. i did not smoke when i was over there. but i kept the small packs and the ones in the goody boxes we got that no one wanted untill they ran out. i had a ammo box filled with kents ,newports . they were always glad to smoke them. when there were no winstons or marboroe

  • A 20-second intro is too long.

  • I found a place where I can order replicas so I decided to order 1...the menu was either beans and wieners, Spaghetti and meatballs or Ham slice. I chose the Beans and wieners lul

  • No Wizart, the worst was the green pork and beans in a can with no label, right out of the barrel of boiling water. Ugh.

  • I showed this vid to my Marine Corps buddy. He said, "Wow. Crackers in a can." and smiled nostalgically. Great video!

  • he is lucky he does not have to eat the same c-rations today.ha ha

  • sure Don! but will i live after that! ha!ha!

cool video! another 5 stars! lol jimmy!

  • Awesome vid!

  • thanks

  • cool stuff Wizard! i love the fruit-cake in

    the can~ ha!ha! 5 stars lol jim!

  • if i ever find one that is 40 years old i will send it to you and you can post a video of you eating it.lol

  • Cool Video!

  • i read that a particular ration (forgot the name but it had pork) was really nasty while the one that had fruts were nice

  • the very worst was the ham and lima

  • yayaya those 1s

  • Mmm, Tasty! :D Hehe, What was your Favourite? Beans and Franks, The fruitcake, the plain Crackers, or others?

I need to get some C-Rats for my collection. Looks like you had some LRP rations in your vid to, I need some of those as well!

  • they were all ok but the ham and egg was the worst, the crackers were good candy was ok. but the fruitcake yuk. my all time favorite was the LRP chili loved it. i still get the freezed dried today. just had some on wed. .the LRP meals were hard to get but when we did i got my share.lol

  • sorry i wanted to say ham and lima was the worst. yuk.

  • haha my uncle told me he opened up a c-ration that had the year 1942 stamped on it. He was in Ia Drang valley at the time back in 1965.

  • did you eat any of it lol

  • No he didn't eat any of it but the food was really gross when he opened it. It was one of the most disgusting things he had ever encountered at the time. It was a ham and egg meal and everyone kept giving him a hard time by saying it might be left overs from Rommels soldiers back in Africa.

  • i bet thoses tasted good.

  • nice were those any good?

  • some were

  • i got the pictures off the internet ,the way the boxes look and the rust on the cans i would say they are from that time. one can has a date of 1971 on it i have some c-rations that are dated 1969 and the accessory packs are from that period. you can tell the replica accory packs they do not look the same. i have both,

  • cool, were they actually from vietnam or were they replicas?

  • Bravo por el principio!!!

  • is that food still good after so many yrs..the food in the cans i mean.how long do u think food in cans can keep...?? good vid....

  • i would not want to eat it. the ones they sell on the internet say do not eat. 40 plus year old can goods. maybe i would try the crackers.lol

  • 5 Stars Still liking the begineing
