  • I've been physically disabled since birth and I can understand what Michael Noonan is doing. He is breaking a mold.

  • What the... OK, Unlikely Travellers... While this is a good and nice look into the disabled world (Thank you), but the disabled people spend billions a year in travel.

LOL so I find it funny that it is imagined we do not travel. I am making a plan to travel cross country. But, I put this video also into my site as Unlikely Travellers aims to educate the ignorant. I want to spread the news that Laughing at the disabled is still an issue. A rename to "with" fails to fix the ignorance.

  • Unlikely Travellers screens at BIFF to a sell out crowd. More than 200 people made the effort to see what all the fuss is about and judging by their reaction, left the theatre in full support of the project and the people involved. A quick search for the review on the Paradigm Oz (google "paradigmoz") website sums up the audience reaction well.

  • Hello,

FYI - the film by Michael Noonan that Gary MacLennan and John Hookham were disturbed by was an entirely different project.

The project that they complained about was titled 'Laughing At The Disabled'.

  • Unlikely Travellers was the first part of the whole research project entitled "Laughing at/with the Disabled". Which is the topic that Michael is exploring for his PhD. The two lectures have publicly criticised sections of Unlikely Travellers. It's a pity you didn't attend the BIFF screening leunerj, not only could you see these sections of the film in context, you could have had a chat to the stars and got a better understanding of their enthusiasm and pride in themselves and in these projects.

  • I've been physically disabled since birth and I can understand what Michael Noonan is doing. He is breaking a mold. So he took two developmentally disabled men into a pub..GOOD! I hope they drank responsibly had a good time. At least Noonan understands that having a developmental or physical disability should not prevent you from experiencing some of the same fun things that other adults do.

  • I think its really sad to see that some people, no disrespect to the views of Hookam and Mcklennan, still hold on to the beliefs that people with disabilities are "disabled". The fact that they are still aware of whats going on makes them very able. Reminding them that they are different from everyone else is the problem... Not Michael Noonan's ideas. I think its time we did break the mould and be more accepting of the fact that people with disabilities are, in the end, human beings.
