  • that bass is crying, that bass will never bee the same again it wont be able to do the same ever again cause john raped the ass out of that guitar. :( he and keith are missed every day R.I.P john entwistle R.I.P keith moon

  • Impresionante en el minuto 4:20 , algun dia voy a tocar asi el bajo! jajaja.. para los que piensan que Flea es el mejor.. aqui tienen a alguien mas viejo que el ^^

  • DAT. BASS.

  • Jesus Christ! This is the first time I've ever heard a bass solo, and it's so freakingly awesome! The Who really Rocks!

  • Pete does a very tasty solo himself on this song...cool!

  • HOLY SHIT!! is that a fucking wizard doing the bass solo?!?!

  • I never liked bass solos in general, but this one ROCKS!

  • Definitely one of the most scintillating bass solos I have ever heard.

  • Is not subtitute for Keith, but Zak is very good at drums too... John is the god of bass.

  • I think it is great that they are still out performing. It really is not The Who without Keith or John, but if anyone were to succeed Keith it may as well be Zak Starkey. They should John Paul Jones to fill in for John, though. That would be cool. Like I said, though, it's great that they are still out making music.

  • does anybody knows about their new tour?, do u know if they are coming to south america?

  • go on google and type in the who and go on their website.. im seeing just roger daltrey in november cant wait!!!

  • its nt the who with out moon... rlly though look...

    kieTh

    kietH

    kiEth

    W

    kietH

moOn... so on my theory they shld be only be called "W"

  • After Entwistle died I call them "The Who?"

  • fuck off without moon theres no who theyre nt the same

  • your right, but its still the who its still bloody awsome with or without moon or entwistle, i think zak starkey and pino palledino did a great job of filling their shoes i couldent of seen anyone else do it

  • true true... im seeing just roger in november though its epic

  • yeah i saw them in march when they did the australian tour, bloody awsome i still cant believe i saw them, 11 out of 10, top class!

  • yeah, sadly. Even Townshend admitted in a recent interview that, without Keith and John, it's not The Who anymore. Honestly, though, they still rock, and gotta respect Roger and Pete for not allowin' the sound both guys and John and Keith created to die.

  • HELLO WE ARE FORGGETING KEITH MOON

  • no, we aren't. the Who still rock hard! John is also gone...

Pete and Robert are gonna die to, so why not to remember how good are they even without the great JE and KM

  • You mean Roger right?

  • my bad.

  • hes dead in here

  • check out pete at 00:34

  • Wow he plays the bass as fast as most play the guitar. Amazing.

Okay people here are talking about the band in Heaven...Hendrix, Bonham, Entwistle...singer????

  • Freddie Mercury?

  • maybe lennon or harrison? vocals+rythym guitar maybe?

  • Where's Keith Moon damn it? He's the best fucking drummer not Bonham. Not to deny Bonham is pretty fucking talented.

  • i know who should sing, Jim Morrison. And yeah, i agree with infernal, i like Moon better, 2.

  • Lennon

  • i cant tell if that roger singing or someelse

  • Why should I care, why should I care?

    John rules.

  • NO FUCKING OX CAM WTF

  • I actually wish he'd turned off the envelope follower as I think it distracted from the sound

  • My parents got tickets to see The Who and a week before the show Entwistle died. R.I.P. what a bummer

  • Not seen this before but confirms what a genius John Entwistle was-the Hendrix of bass.

  • BEST BASS SOLO EVER!

  • The Hendrix of bass

  • fucking insane.

    rip john

  • RIP OX!

  • THE FUCKING OX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THAT is the reason why I started playing bass guitar.

  • Genial performance!

  • Pliz what is the effects during the solo ?

  • It's an envelope follower with a distortion added over the top.

  • why so good? the quiet one - number 1

  • that is some top quality shit there from one of the best bassists ever. i dont like popping style, its a bit gay i reckon tbh, but john entwhistle, since this dude mostly uses fingers, its just some cool ass rapid shit

  • John sei semplicemente mostruoso...Mi manchi...Ci manchi...Salutami Keith! LONG LIVE THE WHO!

  • john entwhistle used to be a tremendous harmony vocalist however he was utterly stone deaf at this point which is why pete's bro Simon was eventually brought in. excellent lead vocal, this, by rog.

  • from what I understand...Elvis is hanging out with about a half dozen card playing dogs!

  • elvis,waylon jennings,john entwistle,keithmoon,john bonham,Freddie ercury,johnny cash

  • Don't Forget Cliff Burton!

  • also john lennon, george harrison, brian jones, janis joplin, jimi hendrix and some other legends.

  • Also Robert johnson, cliff burton, Randy Rhoads, Dimebag Darrel, Frank Zappa, Bon Scott, Freddy Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison... I miss all

  • the band in heaven is a whole lot better now,

  • i started play the bass because of 3 bassist

    John Entwistle

    steve herris and Geddy Lee

  • Thunder fingers was the master of the basss

  • Truly the best rock bassist that has lived, 5/5.

  • Cheers to that!

  • He always changes up the solo every show and they are all fantastic

The royal albert hall show was way better

    More energetic as a band

  • what strings in hell could withstand entwhistles fingers

    god love em

  • I think he was still using Rotosound Swing Bass 66's - the ones he helped design with the company, and he's playing the Warwick Buzzard that was made to his exact specifications by the company. They're amazing, but they cost more than I could make. Sadly, neither Fender nor Gibson gave him a custom deal, even after he played both companies' basses for most of his career.

  • but this is a status graphite buzzard ot a warwick buzzard

  • dont forget keith moon

  • Losing John was the same as led zep losing their John I hope I go to Heaven,so I can thank those two geniuses for the excellent sounds they supplied me with. R.I.P boys

  • yes he is my #1 hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Entwistle = MASTER!!!

  • Strange thing..I got to see them do the entire Quadrophenia album back in 98 and amazingly could not hear John's bass the entire concert.

Once they lost John they were no longer the Who.

  • Pretty awsome solo...

  • Cool bass solo

  • ravi shankar on the bass

  • Where the fuck have i been 257 or something like that YEAH!

  • Awesome vid, but Roger sounds mixed down

  • I'd like to see Flea do something like this. This and the bass solo on the 96 tour have to be the best ones ever for classic rock.

And I'm not even much of a Who fan!

  • Entwistle don't want to be in front of the camera.

  • Entwistle doesn't move. The camera does. Therefore, the camera don't want to be in front of Entwistle.

  • The mix is bad:the two(+) keyboardists(invisible?) are way louder than both bass and guitar. What is it with English bands and their invisible piano players, like the Rolling Stones?

  • are you stupid john entwistle was one of the original members. so he is not a salary member you dim wit. he wrote some of the songs

  • its like that because of its recording, they obviously didnt use very high tech equipment to record this

  • you can quite clearly the keyboard

  • Ihear this and think of kevin watts aka phil daniels staggering, stoned on yhe 5:15 too Brighton, don't think pat would approve!lol. scintilating stuff!

  • I was at this show, and walked out after it energized...the thought buzzing in my head was, "Pete Townshend has re-discovered the electric guitar!"

  • why did u walk out

  • John Entwistle is the greatest bassist ever.

  • Who cares about editing and camera men... It's the music that matter! Who Rock!

  • It's really the editing that's shitty, not the camera man. But all of the bad is incredible, what a superb song and a superb version.

  • i saw the who in wembley stadium with john pete and roger when i was 12 it was there last tour before john died, then i saw roger and pete at their first concert since john has died at the hollywood bowl that show was touching

  • I saw The Who in November and Zak's drumming is great (better then his dad's i think) almost as good as Moon himself although Zak doesn't goof off behind the drum set like Keith Moon did. Too bad Keith didn't teach him how!

  • entwistle on top form right till the end

  • What do you guys think of Zak's drumming ?? I think he's the most Keith like (if that's possible). Still, it makes you miss Keith. He was so PERFECT for the WHO. Totally unpredictable and unique. His fills sound so much better these days because of the quality of today's CD's. I hear new stuff every day.

  • well he got his first professional trumkit from keith.. and zak got some drumlessons from keith to so maybe because of that he his most like keith in drumming ;)

  • They sounded killer that night - wish I'd been there. And of course Entwistle's playing is jawdroppingly awesome!

  • Idiot cameraman, but the guys sound awesome on this one.

  • Is Pete's guitar playing better these days or am I mistaken? Seems that way to me.

  • I think EVERYONE'S playing improved as time went on, namely after Keith died.

  • Hmm.. Petes playing has gotten better as he got older. Still in all, superb band they are.

  • petes volcals arent great on this one at all but the OX always seems to pull the cart. Entwistle is incredible and i love all of his basses and how he always seems to do incredibly. RIP Entwistle,

    make it thunder

  • How did he die? Was it drugs?

  • As the old saying goes, hookers and blow is the way to go. However, he didn't overdose; the coke triggered a heart attack.

  • @lummond i just cried because i felt grief and hysterical laughter descend upon at the same time, thank you, and WHY

  • Coroner Lester Maddrell sitting at Tewkesbury Crown Court, UK concluded: "He died from the effects of a single moderate usage of cocaine superimposed upon ischemic heart disease (lack of blood getting to the heart) caused by naturally-occurring coronary atherosclerosis (thickening and hardening of the arterial walls)."

  • the camera guy sucks

  • does any one know what effect entiwstle is useing, the effects pedal, not the amp stuff

  • Entwistle had a rather retarded multiFX pedal going there, blending in clean signal with effected signal. There's definitely some chorus going on mixed with distortion, but I think it sounds so wattery.

  • He's used a bunch of multi effects units. But, his latest sound before he died, he was using the Digitech 2120 Artist pre-amp. I have one of these, and I can nail his later distortion sound to a tee. It's a mixture of heavy distortion and chorus, but until you get that digitech, you won't be able to get it just right.

  • 5:15 is my fav. who song though petes vocals on this take are lacking and make me want to weap

Entwistle is god....i love him and wish i could time travel to see him live

    God Pete is killing me!

  • Why should he care? Why should he care?
