Power means shit if u have a heavier car, a 2700lbs s2000 with 240 crank horses will have no problem keeping up with a 3650lbs mustang that has 305 crank hp, power to weight , if i take a miata gut it completely and have it weight 1900lbs and a little turbo giving me 200rwhp out of the engine then no s2000 or mustang will come close to it. A mustang can be made very light so dont forget that.

I drive an 02 s2000 with an A&M intake, and an exhaust and I took an 06 stock GT. The race wasn't good and the video quality was bad. s2000's dont suck as much as people think.
@ktmx21x I'll tell you why! Because in 2001, Ford decided that fuel economy was more important than performance for most users. 01 Mustangs and up make 30mph on highway. 2k will compromise fuel economy a bit but make a big performance increase. Note tat the s2000 doesn't make 30mph on hughway.....
@guyd37 Than what would be the purpose of having a v8 in the fist place. you put 2k in the s2000 and you can see a huge increase as well... For mustangs to be considered a straight line sports car, it fails pretty miserably!
@ktmx21x I bought my first car in 1983. Yes, I had Hondas.... Why a v8? Low end torque. Lots of it! That's what moves a car, not HP. That's why "adults" buy v8s. We leave toys for 20 some y/o. Do you understang power to weight ratio? A Mustang is not half a car like a s2000.... Finally, a Mustang GT makes better highway mpg than a s2000. $2000 in a s2000 won't make much of a difference. Those cars are maxed out from the factory. They need an expensive turbo set up to add significant increases.
@guyd37. This is not always the case though, The s2k has low trq but high HP and a 9k rev to compensate for it.. I know s2k is alot lighter, but there is no reason for ford not to take the same approach with the mustang, so IMO designing a heavy sports car with a large restricted motor is absolutely pointless.... @ktmx21x s2k are not maxed out like everyone believes, I spent around $1100 on some good quality bolts and VAFC and had a tune and pulled an additional 21 rwhp and 13 trq, that is huge in a 2300lb car! I have HONESTLY say that I have yet to loose to a mustang with less than 2k under the hood!

So, if you think that all of that stuff that makes it sound like a track car from the factory really makes it that, you're bat shit crazy. And for the record, the mustang has had an exceptional track racing history since it first arrived in the 60's and is now even comparable with the m3.
@hugoloves2spooge I am aware of its lap times on nurburgring also did you notice the (Very Wet) next to the time... So if it is outperforming many of the cars in the class on a wet track then it deserves to be put on a pedestal... It is a great track car and when comparing the RS then you would have to compare the s2k CR against it... Mustangs need extensive upgrades for it to be a good track car even so it has a disadvantage against many other sports cars....

I just git back from the track. There were 2 S2000. They both did multiple 1/4 mile passes. Best time was 15.4. I wasn;t impressed. Both got smoked by Neon RT4s and Cobalt SS. Ok both Honda's drivers were probably idiots..... of course. However, I saw what I saw.
i allready got use to see 4 cylinder cars smoking and embarrassing big engine cars.....das funny cuz the engine size doesnt matter! is all about performance and better quality....we all know japan makes kick azz cars........american cars got nothing on imports....period!!
and then your car breaks down lol. Your right it is alot more money to put into the s2000 because it is a higher class car than a mustang. Not in the sense of engine size but in the sense of quality and design. It costs more to add mods because the car isnt another one of the worlds cheap hondas. It's a well rounded track car that does just fine out the box from the factory. Take it to autocross or road racing where the s2k shines and it's a totally different story here period.
ive waxed serveral s2ks in my 02 gt. look i have a question a f20 or f22 moter can only make soo much power. you have more cycleders. why would the mustang not win in the mod race. plus if a 2v like mine can wax s2k ass surely a 3v like in this vid would be able to without a problem. yes hondas can make power with money. but i can make more with half the money also i have less of a limit.
actually I run my S197 (with bolt ons) on the track and I can beat stock S2K's quite easily... I'm sure the car handles a lot better than mine does in turns but on a quarter mile, the S2K doesn't pack any power at all......
My 2006 GT Stock destroyed every Stock S2000. They are no match for a Gt as long as the driver knows how to drive his car. With the bolt ons and tune I have now, I'm a bully on the streets to imports right now. I've had some close ones with modified 370Z's but nothing else has been able to come close.
Yes there are quite a few in my area, as I live near just outside Houston city limits. Yes they are modded, and there are just about as many parts for the 370Z as there are for the Mustang sir. They have CAI's, exhaust, suspension, brakes, clutches, differentials. Your sarcasm isn't warranted or needed as you're definitely not informed. A 370Z wasn't able to run with my car when it was stock, came close, but no cigar, now I run away from them.
You just showed that you beat a S2k by like a car. Numbers.. 200whp, 150ish torque. 370z.. 295whp, unsure of torque but probably same. And yes I'm sure the 370 is a bit heavier. I'm not one for negativity, but even the 370 is 600+lbs lighter than you and a 05+ stang lays 265whp. Quick car, I will give it, but don't degrade a car that sat right next to your 4.6 with a 2.2. Btw, I never saw an s2000 get destroyed.
we have great roads here, i am from the north were in the winter no special sespension is going to help you out it is all about power and traction something the american cars have a lot of and i am not saying forien cars suck i am just saying the american cars i like better i mean seriusly i drive trucks the only car i have is my sisters v6 mustang wich handles great

so where is this proof of 400 Hp in 2010 Mustang? Last I checked its just cosmetics. Challenger is out last year. Those 400+ cars will be in the mid 40k range. The S2K is a 4cyl so you take the extra money and then have some in you'r pocket and you beat those. I love the new challenger though. It is one of the most beautiful cars ever. The Camaro is wierd cause all of the gauges are in arm rest. Don't remember if back in the day like that but it is a dumb idea

Well i'm sorry to burst your bubble. But in reality its how the power gets to the ground. I'm sure those Shelbys, Mustangs, Vipers are sitting on 275+ rears but most of the power is lost to inefficient engine design, transmission and a number of other factors. Huge numbers don't mean much.

S2000 is not a drag car!! End of story. I have one and I love it, but not made for straight lines. Sure it can still go pretty quick and I have beat an '04 gt multiple times on the highway but it is made for the curves. Racing v8's on the highway is playing to the S2000's weakness and barely losing. Should try these races around and take it to some turns. In the turns the S2000 would be ahead by many many many seconds. So different cars for different things.

03 GT's? The 99-04 Mustang GT's were only a half a sond faster than a 06 Accord V6 6-speed. Both stock of course. And you "say" you "killed" a lightly modded s2000 a Mustang GT. I'm very doubtful you killed it. And "if" you did beat it, it wasn't by much. Oh yeah, can I get a link to a video of beating it. Don't get me wrong, I love Mustangs (espically the 99 Cobra R & 99-04 Saleens), but I think sometimes things don't add up.
a 99-04 gt depending on the driver but with a good driver can run as fast as a 13.9 stock. i seen s2000 hit from 14.8-14.1 again on the driver so can one murder the other sure if you got someone that can't drive. as for a 99-01 cobra yeah the honda should just stay in the garage on that one.

Mustang comes with very restrictive upper intake and exhaust as well as a bad 3.27 gear ratio. $2,000 in upgrades and no s2000 would have a chance.

But at the end, not everybody r good when it come to racing their cars...

@The1WhiteDevil The S2000 is a much better car...Better quality, better engineering, better chassis stiffness, better handling, better to drive, better acceleration, better looking....I used to like Mustangs but then i grew up...for those who are looking for real racing history, real engineering and all around performance they buy and S2000 or STI.

@GTSRBOY lol what history? if your talking about a s2k's history there practically is none. it first came out in 99. the stang came out in 64, and has been a legend in american racing. boss 302, gt 500 kr, 03/04 cobra which was built on a mustang frame. foxbody 5.0's, and the current 5.0 which is almost identical in perforance as an e92 m3. so i dont know where you get your info from.

@The1WhiteDevil By saying s2000's are pathetic you are insulting the last 10-15 years of f1 racing and indy car racing and the technology behind it... S2000 are very fast an right out of the box, more so than mustang GT's and you dont need to spend 2k on a less restrictive exhaust and intake manifolds like you do on mustangs to get the power out of them! Not to mention over 10k in suspension and drivetrain parts just so it can get near the same lap times as s2000's..

@ktmx21x my 03 GT weighs in at 3250 with 260/300 with a 1/4 time of 13.9 and that little shitcan for a car weighs in at 2887 with 240/153 and 1/4 of 14.4. now it would take you more then an intake an exhaust are your so called free flowing 4banger to even keep up with me stock. how the hell do you think you can compete when i do the same shit to my car. your right about the restrictive intake and exhaust that means there is more power to free up on a car that already beats you hands down.

I just git back from the track. There were 2 S2000. They both did multiple 1/4 mile passes. Best time was 15.4. I wasn;t impressed. Both got smoked by Neon RT4s and Cobalt SS. Ok both Honda's drivers were probably idiots..... of course. However, I saw what I saw.

and then your car breaks down lol. Your right it is alot more money to put into the s2000 because it is a higher class car than a mustang. Not in the sense of engine size but in the sense of quality and design. It costs more to add mods because the car isnt another one of the worlds cheap hondas. It's a well rounded track car that does just fine out the box from the factory. Take it to autocross or road racing where the s2k shines and it's a totally different story here period.

ive waxed serveral s2ks in my 02 gt. look i have a question a f20 or f22 moter can only make soo much power. you have more cycleders. why would the mustang not win in the mod race. plus if a 2v like mine can wax s2k ass surely a 3v like in this vid would be able to without a problem. yes hondas can make power with money. but i can make more with half the money also i have less of a limit.

actually I run my S197 (with bolt ons) on the track and I can beat stock S2K's quite easily... I'm sure the car handles a lot better than mine does in turns but on a quarter mile, the S2K doesn't pack any power at all......

My 2006 GT Stock destroyed every Stock S2000. They are no match for a Gt as long as the driver knows how to drive his car. With the bolt ons and tune I have now, I'm a bully on the streets to imports right now. I've had some close ones with modified 370Z's but nothing else has been able to come close.

Yes there are quite a few in my area, as I live near just outside Houston city limits. Yes they are modded, and there are just about as many parts for the 370Z as there are for the Mustang sir. They have CAI's, exhaust, suspension, brakes, clutches, differentials. Your sarcasm isn't warranted or needed as you're definitely not informed. A 370Z wasn't able to run with my car when it was stock, came close, but no cigar, now I run away from them.

You just showed that you beat a S2k by like a car. Numbers.. 200whp, 150ish torque. 370z.. 295whp, unsure of torque but probably same. And yes I'm sure the 370 is a bit heavier. I'm not one for negativity, but even the 370 is 600+lbs lighter than you and a 05+ stang lays 265whp. Quick car, I will give it, but don't degrade a car that sat right next to your 4.6 with a 2.2. Btw, I never saw an s2000 get destroyed.

so where is this proof of 400 Hp in 2010 Mustang? Last I checked its just cosmetics. Challenger is out last year. Those 400+ cars will be in the mid 40k range. The S2K is a 4cyl so you take the extra money and then have some in you'r pocket and you beat those. I love the new challenger though. It is one of the most beautiful cars ever. The Camaro is wierd cause all of the gauges are in arm rest. Don't remember if back in the day like that but it is a dumb idea

Well i'm sorry to burst your bubble. But in reality its how the power gets to the ground. I'm sure those Shelbys, Mustangs, Vipers are sitting on 275+ rears but most of the power is lost to inefficient engine design, transmission and a number of other factors. Huge numbers don't mean much.

S2000 is not a drag car!! End of story. I have one and I love it, but not made for straight lines. Sure it can still go pretty quick and I have beat an '04 gt multiple times on the highway but it is made for the curves. Racing v8's on the highway is playing to the S2000's weakness and barely losing. Should try these races around and take it to some turns. In the turns the S2000 would be ahead by many many many seconds. So different cars for different things.

The S2000 on the other hand is a Great Sports car that has ballance in mind with a good combination of Power and handling. Because of the fact that its made to take on curves. Put that v8 in a mid-engine setup that weighs as much as that little Honda. The v8 is better, hands down, when it comes to engineering, displacement, and potential, everything is better about the 4.6 (save only fuel economy) If you Honda fans wanna have a balls fest, prepare for a mustang spanking.

03 GT's? The 99-04 Mustang GT's were only a half a sond faster than a 06 Accord V6 6-speed. Both stock of course. And you "say" you "killed" a lightly modded s2000 a Mustang GT. I'm very doubtful you killed it. And "if" you did beat it, it wasn't by much. Oh yeah, can I get a link to a video of beating it. Don't get me wrong, I love Mustangs (espically the 99 Cobra R & 99-04 Saleens), but I think sometimes things don't add up.

a 99-04 gt depending on the driver but with a good driver can run as fast as a 13.9 stock. i seen s2000 hit from 14.8-14.1 again on the driver so can one murder the other sure if you got someone that can't drive. as for a 99-01 cobra yeah the honda should just stay in the garage on that one.

well they didn't race far, and he beat him by a lot more than an inch. More torque and more horsepower = good if you are into a straight line. They are both different cars for different categories, both of them are nice though I'd love to own one of those cars eventually.
