  • i got a question, why do people say that bobcats grin?? is it true???

  • @zachANDthewolf They may look like they're grinning at times, but no more than any other cat species ??

  • Sweet little hunter ^^

  • Go hope get those rats

  • Great series. It isn't too often that you get to follow the development of a single big cat, or any wild rehabilitated animal for that matter. Cudos to the production team - and good luck to Hope in the wild :)

  • beutiful cat. I wish this cat could be a pet...but probably no ta good idea ;p

  • I hope Hope is doing well where she belongs: in the wild :)

  • What is she eating at about 1:25... it seems far larger then the rats...

  • @ColbyWolf It's just an extra large rat :)

  • @BigCatRescue That is a terrifyingly huge rat :D I'm glad we don't get those around here. Thank you for answering! :D

  • i need a bobcat

  • @dalecampbl5 me too! I also want a pet river!

  • @ohiocanalgirl

    Well said. LMAO !!!

  • good job! awesome series!

  • I really enjoyed watching this series. My favorite part was getting to see Hope's instincts develop over time.

  • This was FASCINATING series. A pity groups like National Geo r Animal Planet didn't take interest...r did they?

    Wow..

I've got a month old tiger/tabby cat which I rescued as a kitten, nearly ran over her on the road actually, but miraculously she was untouched as the car drove over her.

2day I've gone from musing over her tiger/tabby stripes, supposedly indicative of Wildcat ancestry, 2 checking out Scottish Wildcats (see scottishwildcats co uk) to becoming fascinated with bobcats & lynx etc.!!

  • @Sionnach1601 Funnily enough National Geographic just published a story on Hope and her rehab! :)

  • @Sionnach1601 The first task of the professional would be to remove the narration done by a female with a bad, bad case of the cutesy voice syndrome.

  • best series ever

  • hope she didnt drop her prize on ur foot while ur filming that! LOL ... my cats used to drop theirs on my foot when they brought home a 'prize' it could be a bat, or a mouse, and once a rabbit!

  • she's all grown up now! a young elegant lady she is!

  • Were the "prey" rats domesticated rats or wild rats which Hope would encounter in nature?

  • @Kagefujin They were domestic rats we keep on site.

  • @BigCatRescue That's awful! Domesticated rats are pets too!

  • @brobador We realize this and it isn't fun for anyone to be the person handing out the live prey, but this is the best method to ensure a successful rehab and future in the wild.

  • @brobador When bred to be pets, rats are great little companions. I would think the rats used in teaching Hope how to hunt were rats that were bred for food, not pets. Bobcats are predators after all, they evolved to eat small animals. Lizards, snakes, bugs, mice, rats, etc, are all in the group of what Bobcats are designed to feed on.

Though its brutal, that's the way it is.

  • at 2:25 what was Hope looking for ? and was she crying?

  • @Knockwood08 She was still, searching for the live rat we used to feed her.

  • How are you filming her? She seems to be quite aware of where the camera is and keeps away from it while eating.

  • We just filmed through the cage wire, going to a secluded spot to eat is just her natural instinct :)

  • I enjoyed this series very much. My kitten Lucy did as well. She watched the computer screen with me. She has a wild bob cat spirit inside of her.

  • Did she get to tackle a rabbit before her release ? was any training done in regard to her learning about evading dogs or wolves ect .

  • Yep, she did get a few small rabbits as well before her release, you can't train these cats when you are going to release them into the wild, their natural instincts take hold on their own.

  • Was Hope released?? I've seen no updates on her.

  • Yes, she was released, there's an episode 14 that has her release etc... :)

  • When is Hope's release date? Will we get to see the video of her being released? I hope so because we got to see her grow up and kinda became attacted to watching how she is doing. It has been while since a new video was made of her. Please give us an update on how she is doing, ect.

  • Yep you will definitely see the video of her release :)

  • I think I shall be contacting BCR soon. Because of a friend's fondness and link to wildcats (the bobcat in particular), I am getting a rather interesting eduction. It is Combined Federal Campaign time. I hope I find your organization on the list. If not, we'll work something out.

  • I believe we are on the list, thanks for your support!

  • Will she be able to successfully interact with other bobcats now? Survival won't mean much if she never finds a mate.

  • There's no reason why not, we hope she does :)

  • wow hope grew up so fast she already looks like a tiger

  • I think ep 14 is going to be the one that really makes you cry. Because its going to be the release day into the wild, and a whole new world! I am looking forward to this! Just need a warning if we gonna need kleenex, plz!! thx so much for letting us watch these videos.

  • most impressive. human related animal rescues usually result in some form of human contamination especially in the early stages of an animal in need which can contribute to their demise. i can watch your combined professionalism and feel hope for any feline that comes into your care

  • I concur,

you guys are doing very professional work. If only every cat was treated as well as the cats in your care ;)

  • she meows! wow.

  • start putting rabbits in there soon

  • i love this series and all the Big Cat Rescue videos!

keep them coming and thank you for all you do for these amazing creatures! :)

  • Is their Hope the bobcat episode 13?

  • I know that Hope must learn how to hunt, but, you are right, this is hard to watch. I love Bobcats, and actually saw one a month ago. They are splendidly wild creatures.

  • is there ep 14?

  • It's on the way keep watching out for it!

  • I sort of broke my heart to see poor hope going back to her feeding hole over and over again looking for rats. Sure it won't be easy on her in the wild, but it's still sad that she was so hungry and you guys have to not feed her so she gets used to being hungry - especially since those rats can easily escape her enclosure.

  • oh

    my

    god

    shes beautiful!

    lol

  • poor mice and rats getting played with and eaten

  • I heard Hope was released to the wild in April, 2009.

Do you have a video of that?

  • Hi, yep we do, we're just saving it for a while until the "Hope series" as finished completely, keep watching :)

  • "Scar didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?"

  • Looks like expert rehabilitation, nice job guys :)

  • Well we don't like to brag :) thanks!

  • what a little cutie pie, shes so beautiful :)

  • like a tabby but.....meaner...

  • yeah a lot!

  • A bobcat is an object of affection.

  • how many of your cats do you release back in the wild? and what would make you decide which animal gets released and which stay under your care?

  • We have only ever released florida bobcats that we have rehabbed. These are a native species to Florida so we are able to do this. Releasing any of our other cats is out of the question, breeding programs only use cats that are the best genetically to breed. The best thing to do is to preserve natural habitat and stop poaching in order to protect the cats already in the wild.

  • do you have any panthers or mountion lions or leapords

  • Yes we do, we have 100 cougars/mountain lions and 14 leopards (golden, black, snow)

  • wow thats alot you should make some more vids of them

  • Sorry that was a mistake we only have 10 cougars and 14 leopards! We will be making more videos featuring these cats in the future...

  • oh ok and sweet i am looking forward to them

  • all grown up now.. it was gross to watch her chew on the rat...lol...it was still wriggling....my cats brings in all sorts...i found feathers in all parts of my house once....poor bird put up a fight.

  • Yep, nature's cruel! Did you know domestic cats are the most successful hunters in the cat world? They have such a wide prey base they can always find something to kill. Tigers are only successful 1 out of every 20 hunts!

  • Wow. I had no idea about that. Makes sense though when you think about it.

The look, sounds and other reactions of my cat when he's watching the birds in my back yard say it all though!!

    =^.^=

  • awesome that you guys are trying to get these guys back in the wild! keep up the awesome work guys!

  • She is a beautiful

  • awesome! that's all i have to say.. lol.

  • isnt she getting big now! congrats on raising such a clever little hunter! ^_^

  • BCR has done a fantastic job with Hope! She will do just fine in the wild. God Bless you all at BCR!

  • Wow, she has sure grown! Beautiful! =^..^=

  • wow she has long legs

  • Hope has matured into a beautiful Bobcat. Congratulations for an excellent job. Have you gotten any new videos of her in the wild?

  • Put some tiger videos or lion videos, only losers care about bobcats.

  • I have awaited each episode of Hope with anticipation and I know her release will come soon. This will undoubtedly be a happy day but it will make me very sad at the same time. She seems well prepared, but I'll worry about her none the less.

  • Go Hope! Go Hope! Go Hope Go!!!

  • when i first see her in this video, she reminded me of one cat i had. she's gorgeous. hope will be alright in the wild, it will come to her naturally.

  • I love Hope the bobcat. My granddaughter's name is Hope. I emailed it to her Mommy so they can watch her together. elsathelioness:D

  • I love watching Hope the bobcat. My granddaughter's name is Hope. I emailed it to her Mommy so they can watch her together. Cool! elsathelioness:D

  • Nice video

  • Is there any way you will be able to tell that she has done well in the wild?

Meanwhile - you'all have done a fantastic job keeping her wild and teaching her how to survive. Its a lot of work for one baby bobcat. :) Congradulations.

  • We do go to the area where she was released and set camera traps, so hopefully we will catch her on film!

  • do you guys put the mice in there or do they just live there as well? o:

  • We put them in ourselves.

  • My dad once 'adopted' this stray cat. His name was Short Tail because he had a short tail. He was gray with a white belly and some black on the face, around the eyes and such. I'm thinking now maybe he might have been a hybrid. Can house cats and bobcats reproduce?

  • It may have been a manx cat or pixie bob which resemble the bobcat with their coloring and short tails. I think a bobcat would rather kill the domestic than mate with it!

  • I saw my cat eating a mouse when I was 13.

It was already dead, she just brought it into the garage to eat it.

My mom was revolted. She had a fear of mice, it didn't mater whether they were dead or alive.

She didn't like their "beady eyes and long tails."

  • So cute when she starts to growl because whoever is filming gets too close while eating. Clearly you all are doing a great job at taking care of these animals and getting those you can release up to par.

  • I had a friend with a halfbreed housecat/bobcat. It did not "meow", it growled just like that. It was also HEAVY, which didn't make much of a difference because it didn't like being picked up. It was a loving cat, otherwise, though.

Oh yea, accept to dogs. It would actually pick fights with the neighborhood dogs, and it won every time. XD

  • I can't donate but I can click your ad!!

Hope is going to get this hunting thing down soon enough.

I'm dying to know how many cameras you all have in just that one enclosure!

  • rofl my screen kept acting like my comment didn't stick so this is the result that I call...The Accidental Over Comment that makes me look crazy!!!

  • I can't donate but I can click your ad!!

  • Thanks!

  • Wow, you guys have some serious cameras in there.

Hope has gotten so big, I look forward to seeing her release day footage.

  • Aww, she's so cute, even when she's hunting rodents! =3

  • It seems like she's growin soo slow. Are these old videos?

  • What a cutie!

  • shes all grown up! she looks beautiful!

  • aww what a cute bob cat? how old is she?

  • 24/7... why does "she" need rehab

    bob=what about bob

    sorry 4 the riddle

having a tad bit of a rough day

    take care

  • 24/7

  • cool 5/5 geat vid ^^

  • I wonder if a mother bobcat, in the wild, would teach the young to hunt or at least the art of killing. I had a momther cat, with one offfspring, and although the mother cat did not go hunting before, when the kitten got to a certain age, she would bring in a dead mouse with the back of the neck chewed on and give it to the kitten. The juicy neck drew the attention and the kitten started biting there too.Three times the mom did that till at last she brought in a live mouse. Bitten on the neck!

  • woot finally a new vid!

  • She grew up fast. She's looking amazing now. Glad you were able to release her. Do you track her from time to time (to make sure she's still OK)?

  • this is animal abuse, the rat was killed in this video

  • It's the only way Hope can learn to hunt in order for her release back into the wild, we need more bobcats than rats out there!

  • Hope is beautiful!

  • Wow she has gotten big, Thanks for uploading more videos, hope you never stop :)

  • We won't don't worry :)

  • Thanks for the Hope update! She has gotten so big and beautiful.

  • She will do fine. You guys have done one helluva magnificent job. Thank heavens there still remains a few people that actually care about animals, the environment and the future of our planet as we know it. Kudos Big Cat Rescue!!!

  • I think you can eat your food now little bob cat.

  • hope has gotten so big

    she is pretty

    i loves her

  • H U R R A Y !!!

  • You guys have done an awesome job preparing Hope. I've enjoyed following her progress here too.

    =^.^=

  • what a gorgeous animal

  • Hope has a spotted belly!

  • Bobcats are fascinating.

  • nice vid.

    needs more tigers though :)

  • Gods but she is beautiful to behold!!! Such a wonderful creature. She will do just fine in the wild as long as she stays away from people. I hope she hasn't grown too familiar to humans.

  • 0:12 Reminds me of my cat. I can see the house cat in her. Very beautiful. She will be just fine in the wild!!!
