Get Samsung 30nm ddr3 it is the best memory OUT THERE! it's bit more expensive than crucial or corsair (40nm), but the quality is way better. low power consumption and better performance. less heat!
Crucial.com "troubleshooting" guide told me to put the "highest density card in the top slot" Because my computer came with the top 2 slots filled with 2x2GB cards, I had to remove them, put them in the bottom slots & then push my new Crucial 2x4 GB cards into the TOP slots
After the memory upgrade I have 12 GB of memory, up from the original 4 GB.
Everything works just find, no problems, no error messages, thanks in part to your video & Crucial.com "troubleshooting" guide
The pressure needed to push the memory into position is 20 pounds. On your video, show the imprint on your thumb of the card edge. There is going to be a dark red imprint on BOTH thumbs from the pressure needed to fully insert the memory.
The price of 8 GB of memory from Crucial.com is now only $70.++ -- your video is incorrect on the pricing.
I like your promotion of Crucial.com; they are deserving your plug. Ordering was easy & delivery was prompt.
@azbcaz As you may know, the price of RAM decreases over time, if you take a look under the video you will realize that this video was uploaded last year, since then the price has decreased significantly. If you press the link in the description you will see the specific RAM that I got now costs just $47.98. Thank you for watching the video and leaving your comments. I'm glad you had a good experience with Crucial and I appreciate your constructive criticism. Thank you.
Geekbench? I'd like to run it on my 2011 21.5 IMAC 2.5 processor, BEFORE I install an addtional 8 gb of memory. My computer came with the standard Apple 4 gb o memory (2cards, 2 gb on each card)
I've been unable to find GEEKBENCH? HOW, or WHERE, do I need to go so I can run GEEKBENCH, before & after the memory upgrade?
I have a question, if I have 8GB of ram of which come from the factory I can put 2 Apple 4GB RAM in other slots are Anquan different brand? or must be the same brand?
statistics of RAM will do just that different compatible brand, nothing happens? that you recommend I do?
Thanks! This was really helpful! But is there anything else to know, like is their some kinds of RAM that won't work? I have an iMac 20 inch from 2007, and I'm going to upgrade from 1GB to either 4 or 8. I've never done this before, and I don't want to screw up.
One other question is in which way the RAM goes in, your video has the slot tab ( the smaller tab going into the machine facing right, the Apple maual has the opposite. Which one is correct, assuming the screen is face down ?
Please answer this, and the Geekbench test on 64 vs 32 below.
I have the same machine, but with the 3.06 Core Duo. My test is coming in at 4600 without the upgrade ( mine is 4 gigs original too) Could the 512 meg video card help my test at 4 be higher than yours ?
Only thing I would add is that when you are pushing in your new RAM make sure push lightly from the left side first, then the right. When installing new Crucial Ram into my I-Mac 27" I had a little difficulty getting the RAM to pop in when I was applying even pressure. By pushing 1st it on left side then right it clicked right in. Of course always take your time with it, no need to be a Gorilla with it just push softly.
Your video was very helpful. My I-Mac went from 4GB RAM to 12GB - sweet!
Great video. What performance increase did you note? I'm getting ready to order memory from Crucial for my 24" iMac that I purchased in December 2007. Thanks!
@davidtn I noticed that my video import/rendering time increased by more then 2x and my photo editing is much quicker, overall new ram = new computer feel.
hey cheers for the video TIPS for the 27inch i had to pull the tab to release the original pieces of memory to add the 3rd & 4th once done just followed the video and im running my mac on 8gb, (from 4gb standard i7) before Geekbench - 8566 rendering fairly complicated HD after effects work - 4.25 after Geekbench - 8585 rendering fairly complicated HD after effects work - 4.24 was expecting better results. faster capabilities too... wont know for sure if it was worth upgrading until later...

@motabbirh The iMac only has 2 RAM Module slots, unless your iMac is a 27" model.

You have a 32 Bit os right? So you can only use 4 gb of RAM! Is this information right or does this just effect windows?

I found your link to GeekBench & did the FREE download BEFORE & AFTER the addition of 8 GB of RAM to my 2011 21.5" IMAC that came with 4 GB of memory.
I'd like to offer several suggestions/constructive criticism of your video:
Explain the GeekBench AT THE BEGINNING of your video.
Go into detail about the importance of GROUNDING the computer & the user. You don't say ANYTHING about GROUNDING.
Crucial.com, in their "Troubleshooting" guide says, "leave the computer PLUGGED IN & turned off"

I am confused thought, do I test my Core Duo 2 3.06 early 2009 24 inch at a 64 or 32 ?
I thought this is a 64, but some people say it boots as a 32. My score is 500 points higher as a 64 versus 32.
Please explain !

@pancove925 the longer section should be on the left. The video card is probably why your test is better then mine.

When you ran the Geekbech tests, should'nt they be run at 64 Bit, not the 32 you did it at ?
