Joey was awesome. I believe he joined Michael Camillo trio with Anthony Jackson soon after this. He's featured in the latin jazz documentary Calle 54.
Hello my friend. Joey is a wonderful drummer but the drummer who played with Michael Camilo and Anthony Jackson I think it was Horacio Hermandez :El Negro` From Cuba.
@jazzguitar02 You're right! I realized it after I posted this. I went back to check out Camillo's performance and realized my mistake. Thanks. Too many great musicians out there.
@MrBertiep Don't worry Bertiep .:0) One of my favorite concerts of Tribal Tech was their concert in Chile where Joey played with them. It was Amaizing!!!!
My favorite fretless bass tone of all ( same silver-looking bass from his REH instructional video ) + phenomenal player, great band, great composition...
Some folks try to prove something by playing at warp 11. I just sat back and let Mr Willis express himself and it is really enjoyable. I don't pick up too much ego, although he would be well within his rights to throw that out there. Don't you feel for keys men? They get these new cool sounds and 10 years later it sounds cheesy, even Zawinul had some real winners. Great clip.
I'm gonna go for the old soul vs style and say I wasn't really impressed with GW's solo. I like him though, and I really like this song and this whole album, he has a cool taste in notes and his tone is legendary. Jaco had a greater delicacy about him when playing, and each note in any of his solos has a purpose and builds to a powerful colorful conclusion. Can't help but compare the two since they're the most two prominant fretless "fusion"ers around (or were around :P)
This is the kind of funky rock fusion that I love.. a harmonic and rhythmic complexity unreachable..Tribal Tech is the best rock funky fusion group in the world

Never really understood what happened to Joey, he's awesome, very original 2, like a cross between drums and percussion, great sound.
