Not sure where you got your tips and how it was construced, but my dual setup has had the stainless steel ones for over a year and still look new. The Chrome ones are crap and exhaust from cats eat them up.
They are ROL Xtremes.for 3" pipe. I just changed them out this weekend to 2 1/2" tips for duals. You can get them direct off their web site, or get them from a Kaggen auto parts store.
@meatloaf666999 Technically you should win the award, because my comment was in response to your very low intelligence on the difference between a muffler by cherrybomb called the "Vortex" and the Vortec heads and air-box used on an engine.
@Ry4nH4m1ll Mine was an honest mistake I merely thought he had misspelled a word.
Your comment how ever doesn't benefit anyone, in the future anyone is about to post the same comment as I did will read it and not make the same mistake as myself.
You're comment just make you look like someone who has to much free time.
@meatloaf666999 There is no reason to point out any errors the Video Poster may have written, the human brain is able to decipher the type of video made to what the error may be, for example if he said "2001 5.3L Vortex 4x4" then you obviously know he meant Vortec. Get your panties out of a bunch. If you had a truck you would know these things.
@Ry4nH4m1ll Go back and read my comments compared to your own.
I have been calm, cool, and level headed on the other hand someone could easily describe you as "Having you're panties in a bunch" just by reading any one of you're comments...
@meatloaf666999 Now you are using the "I'm calm and your hysterical" argue technique, I'm just fine, just replying to your 5th grade remarks, and if you really knew everything about GMT400s you would know the difference of Vortex to Vortec. Case dismissed.
@meatloaf666999 The "winner"? what am I going to win? I'm arguing with a kid on YouTube who can't figure out the difference of a muffler to a set of heads, intake manifold and an air box. But now you know.
I wouldn't think so, since the popping sound is influenced by the glasspaks in the tips. I am considering trying smaller tips just to see what effect it would have on the system. Might try no tips since I could easily weld them back .
@Ossco97 nope the popping is caused by the small tip restrict the exhaust gas so it back fires into your exhaust valve and cause the popping sound. get a bigger pipe and let it flow like the ocean
No actually it's not a glasspack, that's why Cherry Bomb also makes a glasspack too. Go to their website and look up their mufflers.
I don't get why so many people think Cherry Bomb is a glasspack and the only glasspack, and not a company which does make a nice sounding red glasspack but they have other muffler models as well with different internals for different flow rates and sounds.
Well, after decades of building the brand name, Cherry Bomb is almost always associated with the straight through design glass pack. Not really anyones fault for automatically thinking of the bullet design whenever someone mentions the name Cherry Bomb.
I have the Cherry Bomb Extreme on my truck, it's about the loudest muffler they make, just as loud if not louder than the glasspack but it has a deep rumble the glasspack doesn't. It's pretty much a Flowmaster 10 series racing muffler, it sounds awesome on a small block. I liked my Magnaflow just as much, sometimes I miss how quiet my Magnaflow was but I love how beastly the Extreme sounds when I floor it, sounds awesome going through the gears and winding it up and throwing it out of gear.
Thanks for the explanation on the extreme model as I don't know anyone who has one installed. Mine is louder than this video since I split the tailpipes, so it will do for now.
What type of cherry bomb glass pack is this? Im looking to put duals on mine and I dont know from looking at their website what vortex glass pack you have and what length

No not just for trucks, but the vortex is better than glasspaks. I get comments all the time on the sound, you can't beat it for the price.
Ossco97 2 years ago
Don't you mean Vortec and not Vortex?
meatloaf666999 1 year ago
No my engine is a Vortec, my muffler is a Vortex.
Ossco97 1 year ago
Ah ic, sorry about that I didn't know cheery bomb had a muffler called the vortex.
also seeing as your truck is obviously a Chevy I just kinda made some assumptions but as normal made me look like an ass lol.

@Ry4nH4m1ll Right, well since you're just going to start making things up to seem like the winner ill give it to you and end this here.
I'm sure you're ego really needs this victory anyway.

BTW: The buzzing sound at the end is my son's Honey Bee King II Helicopter, not the truck.

its not a glasspack. Its a cherry bomb vortex. Autozone can usually order them for like $50 - 70.
jasperfinch 3 years ago
thats what a vortex is, a glass pack, ofcourse all the glass gets thrown out right away so it sounds very good after a while

I have the same Votex muffler on my Mountaineer. When you really open the throttle, it almost sounds like a stock racing car.

i put my Magnaflow on it, i like having the quiet rumble when cruising better, it's better to have it just loud enough to be noticed, in my opinion
snakesonaplane2 2 years ago
It's a 3" in/ dual 3" out. It's not the old tube style, it's rectangular. It's around 22" x 12" x 4" if I remember correct.
