Genes are not the only determinants to smartness, after all, smart parents can have have children with low IQ. Also, education does not determine smartness as well, who knows if an uneducated person could have gotten a good education and honed their intellect if they had been given the proper opportunities and support. In the end, it comes down to whether the government educates all its people, which will translate into the next generation.

I am reminded of an adage in The Great Gatsby, "The rich get richer, and the poor get children." Since the book was written almost a hundred years ago, I hope it is immediately apparent that the dichotomy you bring up is a quintessential feature of modern American life. Although, as an engineer and an optimist, I am disheartened to detect a hint of pessimism in regard to the human innovative spirit, which seems all too common in the liberal social circles these days.

Entire generations abuse the welfare system by having massive amounts of children they cannot possibly take care of. Tax deductions are not the same thing as welfare. It's simply allowing them to keep more of their own money that they earned. People on welfare do not earn their money at all. Welfare only costs 1% of the federal budget, but it was much higher before welfare reform. It was a temporary fix and I have no doubt the problem will be back again.

Research has shown that people with no kids are on average slightly happier then people with kids. I know there are some people out there who truly ARE happier with kids. But most people are not; kids are expensive and eat up all your free time. You miss out on lots of things and add tons of stress to your life by having kids. This is only worth it if kids are what you TRULY want out of life.

Your biological clock is ticking no matter you wanted or not. The total number of eggs are fixed when you are born. The best time I believe is at ago of 25. The longer you wait, the worse quality of the eggs. It is not recommended to have child when woman passes age of 35.
On educated couples put off having children. 1) Selfish, career comes first 2) Did not have the knowledge about biological clock.

Well, as a Singaporean, this is the first time I'm hearing about the government discouraging uneducated people to have children 0.0 Obviously its misinformation, as with one of the lowest birth rates in the world, Singapore would take its babies wherever they come from. Instead, it gives quality education to every child, regardless of race, creed and wealth, which by itself, creates smartness in the population, so to speak.

Assuming of course, that the smartness that you are referring to is based on IQ, as there is no accurate way that we can measure other kinds of smartness (Not that IQ itself is a very good indicator at all)

Also, education does not determine smartness as well, who knows if an uneducated person could have gotten a good education and honed their intellect if they had been given the proper opportunities and support. In the end, it comes down to whether the government educates all its people, which will translate into the next generation.

College education is a general indication of quality of people. I don't mean there is no exception, but on average is true. Smart has a lot of aspect. Acadamic smart people tend to be lack of people skill and have unfriendly impresion on less smart people, true. What I heard, is the government sponsor dating service for educated people, but pose limit on number of children for uneducated people. I could be wrong though.

Well, the dating service is mainly targeted at busy professionals, etc mainly because these are the people who are too busy to look around and settle down, and perhaps there some hidden agenda to it, but there are actually no limits on how many children you can have, just that only the 1st 3 children will receive Edusave (which helps pay for enrichment classes/etc, and parents receive child incentive bonus for the 1st 3 as well

Even in the US, kids sometimes start working to support their families and in similar circumstances, scholarships and such do not help. Moreover, do only exceptional kids deserve financial assistance in getting a college education? What about slightly above or average kids who could become "smart" if they had access to education? U also have to think abt b4 college, some kids don't even get to go to school because their parents can't afford it/don't care.

Intelligence may seem hereditary to us simply due to the fact that intelligent parents are more likely to be informed on how to cater to their child's needs at early (but important) stages.
In conclusion, it's probably a better idea to focus on education programs, especially for very young children, than to worry too much about the gene pool.

However, this highlights another flaw in her presentation: While the trend of high income/highly educated couples having children later is true, a correlation does not show a causal link - it could be simply that they're too busy, not that they've thought it out at all, etc.

Why should you have a baby? You'd just stick it with a baby sitter. You're career is toooo important. However, the best sex ever, is sex making a baby. However, you should feel like you have the right partner and then the desire to reproduce comes naturally. Different experiences in life change our ideas of the world. I know I have a while before my biological clock counts down. Especially, with the advances in medicine that allow older women to have children. Having kids complicates things, and I'd rather not have kids until I'm ready and understand myself and my own beliefs before I pro-create and pass on my knowledge of the world.

I'd definitely say that less educated people don't decide not to have children, because they don't think about it all, they just do it because it is a natural human urge. More educated people can more easily decide to pursue other interests and overcome the natural urge and realize that procreating for survival of the human race is not necessary for everyone at this time.
