As for the Mustang? I'd say its a V6 auto personally. Stock 07 GT with a tune and chip pulls mid 13's... 15 seconds is more typical of a minorly tuned V6.

@spartan1080 AND they got DOHCs to help the 4 bangers accelerate. My girlfriend has a 93 Saturn w/ the I4 1.9 and DOHC and that fucker is pretty fucking fast. But a SOHC 4 is for shit. The DOHC is probably the best thing since sliced bread that gives a 4 banger 4bbl. like acceleration. inch or 1 horse per 3-4 lbs. BUT their cars rarely fetch 70K+ Ours are a dying breed.With every year, ours get rarer and scarcer since cars wreck and aren't made any more. Classic muscle also has a wider appeal.

As far as handling goes,there is no question that STI will out handle the GT. STI is heavily based on Rally racing, where it needs to perform at it's best on all types of terrain. GT is basically a pavement car. You don't see Mustangs winning Rally events.

Yeah, there's nothing about that mustang that indicates it's a saleen. It has no saleen features. Wheels, body kit, markings, logos, taillights, and that is just a normal gt grille and front end. This is just a $25k mustang gt vs a $35k sti, and that sti driver must have been asleep at the wheel or a total drag noob with that launch/reaction time in an awd car.
Some of the Saleen Mustangs are still just the standard 4.6 and a lot of handling additions so even the base Saleen wouldn't be able to do much against the little rice rocket.

I don't think it's even fair to compare these cars. Domestic "muscle cars" are fast in a straight line, but the sti would handle around the track much, much better, while still keeping up or beating muscle cars in a 1/4 mile. You really can't compare a 4-cyl to a v8.....both are meant for different things.

In fact Road and Track took both the 2010 GT and Evo X out on Virginia Speedway the the GT had better lap times then an Evo (which will beat out an STi all day long. They also took out the 265 bhp wrx against the STi and the baseline wrx had better lap times then the STi.
The whole fuel economy thing with the STI is a lame argument, a buddy of mine has a stock 06 STI that barely makes 20mpg. In my opinion that is hardly an economy car. Besides who the fuck cares about fuel economy when buying this type of car?
If you wanna compare fuel econ my altima puts out 260HP and still manages to get 27mpg as a daily. If I drive aggressively its about 25mpg can't knock that. But again who the fuck cares about fuel econ on a "sporty" car like these.

And even though we get beat in street races by American cars, I know my car is way better. I'd like to see them get in a handling contest. Why don't any street racers ever try to see who can go around a croner the fastest or see who got better fuel economy that night. Then I'd be winning a TON of races. thank you you said it best, the manual gt runs mid to low 13s i believe and the auto runs high 13s to low 14s, the bullit does have 315HP and even keeps up to porches, which is where the sti gets the engine from, the saleen is in 12s. this was just a stock gt, maybe even a V6 if not an auto GT since it did run mid 14s
Yeah the saleens are pretty nice in a 1/4 mile the saleen should beat the sti, but if you buy an sti to go in a straight line you bought it for the wrong reason. As soon as the road gets twisty the sti could prolly win.

Hmmm, stock sti = 300HP and about 315TQ. A simple ECU reflash will net about 370-380. Add in $80 for a fuel pump and you're at 400HP (roughly). Factor is power/weight ratio (H4 hella light compared to v8) and you got a really good competitor.
I do like ford engines (built a big block myself), but I think your "tuner" comments should stick to hondas, which do require gobs of money for this amount of HP.

catted DP with tapered ends, so it's a bit restrictive. Stock exhaust after the DP, I love the stock look. Adding a free flowing exhaust will only yield 5-7HP more. Subarus are funky cars, definitely not to be confused with most other japanese cars. They come severely detuned from the factory, I read it's to meet the fuel EPA stuff. But if I had to own a ford, it would be the obsidian mustang, woah.

I own a regular 03 WRX and I smoke true american muscle quite frequently. I am making over 400whp though and I run mid 11's in the 1/4 and I have never been beaten on the street by any domestic. dont get me wrong I love classic muscle cars but your lack of respect for something that can be built to be insanely fast for the displacement it has shows your ignorance. I have a 2.0L and I whipped my buddies 454 chevelle at the track.

yeah really though for potential the 02 and 03 WRX's are faster once you start working on them. The 5spd is GREAT once you change the gears to PPG or billet gears you get huge amounts of power. I would seriously go and find a used 02 or 03 WRX they ultimately are better than the STI's.
I have an 03 WRX that you may or may not know come with 227hp stock and I now have a little over 400whp and I have had this set up for over a year. It all depends on how well built your car is and the tune. I know of another 03 WRX that has 800hp and holds up great. I have some vids of it on my channel check it out.

The whole fuel economy thing with the STI is a lame argument, a buddy of mine has a stock 06 STI that barely makes 20mpg. In my opinion that is hardly an economy car. Besides who the fuck cares about fuel economy when buying this type of car?
If you wanna compare fuel econ my altima puts out 260HP and still manages to get 27mpg as a daily. If I drive aggressively its about 25mpg can't knock that. But again who the fuck cares about fuel econ on a "sporty" car like these.

Dude American cars are so slow. My friend and I street race all the time, I have a modded STI and he has a modded Evo. And even though we get beat in street races by American cars, I know my car is way better. I'd like to see them get in a handling contest. Why don't any street racers ever try to see who can go around a croner the fastest or see who got better fuel economy that night. Then I'd be winning a TON of races. Shitty American V8's make too much torque, and get shitty mileage

Say that to a corvette Z01. launch control combined with trademark independent suspension and over 500 hp would rape your ass. If there was any strait away on the course it would leave your little rice burning toy in its thick V8 exhaust. And its designed for handling. @ebadebay a stock vette vs. stock STi on a track, the vette will molest the STi around corners. now if you bring a Litchfield Type25 or a Spec C type RA-R you may stand a chance against a corvette. you have to remember there is a reason the new base model vette costs 50k. STis handle amazing for what they cost but they are NOT rally cars, they are produced so subaru can say they made enough street models to enter the impreza into WRC.

you all realize that the mustang in this vid was a stock poorly driven auto GT right. I would (and have in the past) eat that sti alive with my 2008 lightly bolted bullitt mustang. Every time I see one of these vids the import guys have to say it is one of the badass mustangs they beat when it is a run of the mill GT. A base model saleen would rape that sti all day. thank you you said it best, the manual gt runs mid to low 13s i believe and the auto runs high 13s to low 14s, the bullit does have 315HP and even keeps up to porches, which is where the sti gets the engine from, the saleen is in 12s. this was just a stock gt, maybe even a V6 if not an auto GT since it did run mid 14s

Hmmm, stock sti = 300HP and about 315TQ. A simple ECU reflash will net about 370-380. Add in $80 for a fuel pump and you're at 400HP (roughly). Factor is power/weight ratio (H4 hella light compared to v8) and you got a really good competitor.
I do like ford engines (built a big block myself), but I think your "tuner" comments should stick to hondas, which do require gobs of money for this amount of HP.

catted DP with tapered ends, so it's a bit restrictive. Stock exhaust after the DP, I love the stock look. Adding a free flowing exhaust will only yield 5-7HP more. Subarus are funky cars, definitely not to be confused with most other japanese cars. They come severely detuned from the factory, I read it's to meet the fuel EPA stuff. But if I had to own a ford, it would be the obsidian mustang, woah.

And besides, even a regular gt500 would take an sti with ease, and its not top of the line. So an sti's only competition with a mustang would be a GT.

I own a regular 03 WRX and I smoke true american muscle quite frequently. I am making over 400whp though and I run mid 11's in the 1/4 and I have never been beaten on the street by any domestic. dont get me wrong I love classic muscle cars but your lack of respect for something that can be built to be insanely fast for the displacement it has shows your ignorance. yeah really though for potential the 02 and 03 WRX's are faster once you start working on them. The 5spd is GREAT once you change the gears to PPG or billet gears you get huge amounts of power. I would seriously go and find a used 02 or 03 WRX they ultimately are better than the STI's.

I have an 03 WRX that you may or may not know come with 227hp stock and I now have a little over 400whp and I have had this set up for over a year. It all depends on how well built your car is and the tune. I know of another 03 WRX that has 800hp and holds up great. I have some vids of it on my channel check it out.
