I watched the 97 final as a Mayo supporter and he destroyed us - fair play. When he kicked a point direct from sideline with left foot I knew the game was up - hard as it is to admit it I had seen the best GAA player in past 20 years.

I was at the match,(as a Dubs supporter) slightly behind Maurice. He came in cold, got lots of guff from the Dublin players and scored one of the greatest points ever. One of the very greatest talents the game produced.
