  • It is insane that this is the best version of this classic ad you can find online.

  • Вылажнеекаровпышком.

  • This commercial is paralleled in Alan Moore's Watchmen, and in the movie version too (right at the beginning of the movie, paired with the song "Unforgettable".

  • Historic Commercial! Timeless! I never get tired watching this clip! Ridley Scott always had an eye for the camera. He would later unite with Vangelis in his cult classic Blade Runner.

  • Does anybody know what is the name of the music.?? It's so relaxing... I when I see this comercial, I feel like in a spa.

  • @solemavri It's by Vangelis on the China album. It sounds different on the album, though.

  • Classic! Classic! Classic! I am made of BLUE SKY and GOLDEN LIGHT and I WILL FEEL THIS WAY FOREVER!!

  • This commercial was the inspiration for the song between the sheets by The Isley Brothers.....true story

  • They don't make commercials like they used to. Now they just yell and scream at you : (((

  • As a former Mad Man I can say that this is one of the best commercials of all time. The fantasy is extremely well created. Notice how he swims and comes out of the water between her legs and then disappears.

  • I love the CHANEL No. 5 tv ad where the song is,"....I don't want toset the world on fire....."Gotta go search that right now !

  • @rudenudedude9 I'm looking for that one...was just talking about it...I now realize that commercial artistically was about 25 years ahead of it's time.

  • I wish it had been only the lady in this commercial.Swimming uw,and than surfacing.Refreshing:)

  • @vince065us They are selling a product designed for and targeted to women. The fantasy for the target audience is that she is getting ravaged by a fit man. There is no fantasy in some chick swimming topless by herself.

  • Look at the man in the commercial. A MAN, not a boy or cute young man. A mature male, well traveled, experienced, worldly. This is what was in a time that was more right than now. The woman, a beautiful goddess, elegant, not a pop flash in the pan.

  • This commercial is the greatest of all time. Beauty, elegance and trip back to my childhood. One of the very few commercials that held my attention completely, as a work of art. They should put these commercials back in circulation, they are far better than anything out today.

  • This was one commercial I never minded interrupting any movie I was way watching.....this has to be one of the coolest commercials ever made........

  • I wish she were in my fantasy or vice versa.

  • It's from late 1979 not the early 1980s.

  • she's into hairy dudes wearing speedos?!?

  • Who isn't? Ample body hair was big back in the 70s....

  • This commercial brings back memories. It is so-o-o beaujtiful and so is Chanel #5

I do wish theywould bring it back sometime

  • @datu52

    Ciao!

Though "Alien" had been released in 1979, this series of Chanel commercials really placed a heavy focus on "Ridley Scotts" visionary filming skills! Thank you for uploading this commercial that I so loved as a teenage boy! The score was from the popular Greek Composer Vangelis Papathanassious' "China" album!

    Grazie Mille!

    Il Suo Amico

  • 100% pure eye candy....

  • Mind blow. Always liked this commercial, but never noticed the whole shoe thing! Now, it's even better!! Thanks for posting datu52, and for the commentors making this even more special. Always thought the man was just part of her imagination, but he turns out to be a gentleman, even if he is part of her "fantasy". Kudos for Chanel.

  • Few top fashion marks registration number plates for sale eg adidas AD11DAS, Chanel CH11NEL, ed hardy ED 11RDY

  • There is something beautiful about "And I will feel this way forever " coming from an 80's commercial. Being born in 1988' and watching this just gives me a nostalgic feeling for a time I didn't know. Love fragrances and Number 5 of course too.

  • Exquisite, magical, flawless. This is the single best piece of film making I've ever seen. I was astounded and transported every time I saw it on TV. Thanks! Wonderful to see this again.

  • iconic...

  • The greatest commercial of all time. I can feel it down to my core. It is such an unforgetable piece of art, that even thirty years from now, it will still feel the same to me. This is when youtube is priceless.

  • There's a Chanel No 5 commercial with Ella Fitzgerald on it, next to this commercial the best they ever did. I became a fan of her's because of it not the Memorex commercial.

  • Truly a classic commercial, even after 30 years.

I've always wondered, what is the guy holding in his right hand when he approaches her?

(and no, it's not Leonard Nimoy as the V/O)

  • @daisy3269 yeah it does sound like leonard nimoy.

  • @Sixtiesfreak No it is John Huston. It does sound a bit like Nimoy.

  • @daisy3269 What is the guy holding in his hand? Well, if you notice at the beginning while she is laying poolside, she has TWO shoes next to her...then when the plane's shadow passes over there is only ONE shoe (she must have knocked it in the pool). The man goes in to retrieve it for her and that is what he is carrying when he gets out of the pool. When he "disappears" the shoe "reappears" next to the other one. Pure MAGIC this commercial is!

  • @erik3579 Aha...that's what it is! Wow - good eye!

  • Comment removed

  • anyone know who the female's voice is? or the models?

  • @Sixtiesfreak Could the lady's voiceover be that of the late Julie London?

  • i love this one

  • Actually, it was John Huston

  • greatest commercial ever imhop

  • Scott's really a genius in being able to create iconographic-like imagery. Anyone know where there's a really clean copy of this video?

  • Mr. Spock,

At an estimated speed of warp2

    WHEN?

    Will the FANTASY Begin?

  • I remember this commercial as a child and I used to watch transfixed; as all of my senses took in everything . This commerical is a classic. They don't make commericals like that anymore.

  • Does anybody know what track on the album China this music is taken from?

  • The Little Fete.

  • u dah man or woman,,,thanx

  • Man. Took me years to find it, back in the pre-Web days. Enjoy.

  • I know the feeling, I've seen a clip of this movie and haven't seen it since and I want to watch it. It's going on like 15 years now.

  • @egindi11" the little fete" i forgot the track number though.

  • The MOST memorable commercial from my childhood!! So beautiful, ethereal and timeless!! It was on a lot on Friday nights during Dallas soap opera. Thanks for posting!!

  • Astonishing, beautiful, ethereal; after all these years it still sends chills up my spine.

  • Could the lady's voiceover be that of the late Julie London? Could the guy be Tim Donnelly?

  • In the late 70s and early 80s I remember you'd see 100 bland, fast, shouting, meaningless ads in a row, and then out of nowhere there'd be one that was imaginative, evocative, perfectly visually composed with a sublime "gliding" movement and pace to it. Nine times out of ten it would turn out to be Ridley Scott.

  • You're so right! My sentiments exactly. I was a young teenager in the mid-80s, and I remember how every single Chanel ad would just stick out and put everything else to shame -- the music, the mood, the imagery. (And when I then first smelled No. 5, I understood what luxury smells like. It matches the opulent ad campaign perfectly.)

  • I think Vangelis and Ridley Scott worked together again for the movie Blade Runner

  • Yes, it's by a guy named Vangelis on the album China

  • HE MADE THE MUSIC FOR ALEXANDER .

  • I like the song, but does it exist?

  • oh bravo!!! even though i wasnt born durring the commercial i love it!

  • Just like the commercial in Watchmen

  • Such a timeless piece of work. Makes me think of the elegant European "James Bond" wealthy elite. Definite fantasy.

  • To me, this is the "sexiest" video to ever aie on tv. It is so provocative, but i wouldn't want it any other way. Love the body contacts.

  • @bbtex1 You know it man.

  • Finally, the full version of the greatest commercial ever made!

  • I agree this is the best commercial ever made. Have been looking for old commercial for Evening In Paris perfume. It was also great. Would love to see it on youtube.

  • A total classic.

  • What an exquisite commercial. After seeing this as a kid in the 80s I vowed never to fly commercial - and I've been successful up until now.

  • You're obviously Brain and Hearing DEAD. Hellen Keller would've thought it was Exquisite...which it is!

  • i bet you tell children there is no santa claus, too. Never understand why miserable ppl feel the need to spread their misery around? sheeesh!

  • That house is up for foreclosure now.

  • Flawless commerical....

  • Gotta love how Watchmen paid tribute to this.

  • agree, my favorite commercial . dreamlike

  • This is one of my all-time favorite commercials!!!

  • This is a fav of mine as well!

  • No it is not Leonard Nimoy and that's coming from one of his fan's.
