LISTEN To the hunger!!! The persicion!!! The FLOW!!!! This era was hunger...Skills were weapons to build and destroy,,Each line memorized by your mind till the end of time...Young cats today can barely talk..they hear these cats..and their attention span weakens..Results well...I'll let you decide
@dsongreg I hear you but you can be the blame, to why cats today can barley talk,I mean we were created by your generation, so who teaches my generatio?if you diss us you have to diss yourself, because your generation created this one.
Real Hip-Hop, by real emcee's never get die; they just stop getting played. When you put it on turn up the volume you sit backd enjoy. Not a curse in a verse real lyrical skills don't need curse words!
@bmpeak i whole heartedly agree, I was pretty gutted when i bought the road to riches album and this wasnt on it, the album version sounds too dressed up and over produced, and thus ,for me, it lost its hard edge. i waited a long time to hear this version again and it sounds just as punchy and raw as it did then. thank you thank you thank you for postin this, it took me right back to when i took up grafitti seriously. 39 now and still breathin the fumes, u.s to u.k., handz across the ocean.PEACE
@gunneddown213 this is the single release, i think it's a bit different than the album release if i remember correctly... single was released way before the album... b-side is "i'm fly" and i think polo had a cut before this simply called "dj polo", not sure if kool g was rapping on that one (i forget it's been awhile)... but that cut was the joint as well for it's time, not a classic like this one though... ah great times!
Kool G. Rap is one illest MC's of all time and this is his signature track. Old School 4eva. Let me Weezy or Drake rhyme to this shit here. They had no substance.
A little history...my boy jammed this on his box outside the school when it first dropped. I made up a dance (kind of a jazzed up Charleston) to the beat. Two girls passing by tried to mimic what I was doing but could'nt. They did a watered down version of my dance. Later, I saw their watered down version in the clubs. They called it the "Running man". I thought it was an abomination of my original. LOL
I was going to post this!!! Kool G Rap is your favorite rappers, Favorite Rapper, ( IM KOOL G RAP GREATEST OF ALL TIME) HOT HOT HOT POST!!!!! takes me back to our house party days...........
I didn't get wit Kool G until Road to the Riches. I never heard him doing East Coast Party Raps like this. This is cool but I'm glad he changed his style to Gangsta.
Aint it funky...
