  • Just beautiful.

  • If you think this was beautiful, get the recording. I listened to it for days.

  • @tarmbruster1 What's the title of the cd? I know Notre Dame's Men's Glee Club has recorded this number on cd. What about Michigan's Men's Glee Club? Is this number recorded on one of their cd's, and if so, what's the title of the cd?

  • This may possibly be the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard.

  • @vanillapop21 You can't be serious. Lol.

  • all those voices in one place must have sounded amazing... This video can't possibly being doing it justice, right?! lol I wish our choir would do this... (We're a high school group...)

  • is there anywhere you can download/buy this version?

  • Beautifully done, I love the acoustics of the theatre it's performed in. and a great ensemble by the way

  • this is amazing, especially at such a S...L...O...W tempo its hard to sing well. Great job. I love the way the ending fades. I'v never heard it sung like that, Great preformance!!! definite five star

  • An uplifting, joyful gift.

  • There are certain songs that should only be done by all male choirs. Biebl's Ave Maria, case and point. I prefer it when done by smaller groups, but this rendition is excellent.

  • The Glee Club just sang at our morning church service here in South Bend last Sunday and they did this. I brought tears to my eyes. It is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Thanks for posting this. The director comes to our church when he can.

  • The best Ave Maria Ever..............

of course It have to be from Notre Dame..

    Go IRISH

  • I took this video! Thanks for putting it on youtube.

  • truly amazing. Go Irish!

  • I actually used to be in a competitive choir and heard a men's choir from Oregon - and I'm an Alto soloist, and I too also think there is something about male musicians that cannot be captured by females. This song was song and it was the only that made me cry. :D Gorgeous!

  • There is a fullness to the sound of a TTBB choir that will never be found even in the best SATB choir (unless the altos and sopranos are young boys, I realize how creepy that sounds). There is just something about an all male choir's sound that can not be reproduced in a mixed choir.

  • So beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • love thee Notre Dame

  • I am a notre dame fan. I have little truck For the U of michigan. I have to confess this is awesome. It is one of the best performances of this hymn that i have heard in my 82 years on this earth. may they cooperate in singing (only for a long time to come. GO IRISH

  • Anyone else just as impressed as I am that a fight didn't break out? :) Notre Dame and Michigan?

WTG, ND!! I always consider this "our" song. The Glee Club sings it at the Senior's last trip to the Grotto.... a moment I'll never forget.

Our hearts forever love thee, Notre Dame.

  • Musicians come together for the sakes of music no matter their backgrounds or where they are from...bonds with music are formed that you will never find anywhere else. This performance is absolutely stunning. The Mansfield University Men's Choir will be doing this arrangement with the Penn State Glee Club sometime later this month...I'm dying for that performance!

  • The beauty and majesty of Biebl's arrangement makes this song a favorite of all Glee Clubs. It's one of those pieces that seems to only gets better the more people singing it, especially two talented groups.

The Cornell Glee Club was fortunate to bring the Ave Maria back to the US after visiting with Franz Biebl in Germany in 1970, and it's been a staple of our rep (formal and informal!) ever since.

    Well done gents!

  • Well, if it had been the Ohio State Glee Club, a fight probably would have broken out! LOL i'm just kidding, and i know you are too. GO BLUE!

  • This is one of the best versions of this that I have heard, and no offense to whoever held the camera but I'm positive this recording does the live performance little to no justice.

  • This song is enough to make me wish I was a bass, baritone or tenor instead of a soprano. I heard the ND Glee Club perform this live and it was just breathtaking.

  • It's great, to be, a Michigan Wolverine!

  • That it is, bigj, that it is. I'm glad the U of M Glee Club is sounding so good, 'cause the football team these days....well....

    GO BLUE!

  • By far the best amateur performance of this piece on youtube.

  • From what do you base your comment on dynamics? Just in this recording (which I agree is of poor quality), we heard more than three dynamics.

  • It's hard enough trying to keep parts in your own school from competing, but both?? Also this is a bad recording.

  • was this a competition to see which voice part could yell their part the loudest? especially through the third ending?

it's supposed to grow... it's called dynamics. :/

  • I agree, the last third should start out soft. Nowhere to lead to starting out forte.

  • when did they do this? and where?

  • Jan 26th 2007 @ DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on the ND campus.

  • probably conducted by Daniel Stowe :D

    Notre Dame is the best!
