You don't understand how the government works. Policies are changed reactively. Clinton could have changed policies post 93 to be more conducive to combating terrorism if he hadn't treated the bombings as a felony as opposed to an act of terrorism. If he had, 9/11 would not have happened. The president can only act within the context of the existing policy framework which should have been different after 93. Bush changed that framework after 9/11 which kept us safe, and which Obama is undoing.

You don't understand how the government works. Policies are changed reactively. Clinton could have changed policies post 93 to be more conducive to combating terrorism if he hadn't treated the bombings as a felony as opposed to an act of terrorism. If he had, 9/11 would not have happened. The president can only act within the context of the existing policy framework which should have been different after 93. Bush changed that framework after 9/11 which kept us safe, and which Obama is undoing.

Because people realize that there is plenty of substance under the GOP's approaches, especially on foreign policy.
McCain has a TON of foreign policy experience and along with the fact that he is pro-life, center-right, and had good ideas on tax reform/increase/decrease he was a presentable (albeit dull) candidate.
Obama's policies are iffy (also known as "impossible") at best, and although he is a great speaker people were concerned about his actual experience and qualifications.
