this reminds me of my fifth grade school band. pfft. this is definitely not enjoyable at all. painful noise! inside my head! i'm done watching this. no more atonal music for me. :)
I absolutely agree with this. There surely must be some way of making microtonal music sound good. There are, after all, many non-Western musical systems which use 20 or more different notes within an octave. I'm not a big fan of atonal music, and I'm a bit disappointed with a lot of the microtonal music out there.
There is music which is not intented to be 'moody' or make you think about anything except the music and the music only - see wikipedia for "absolute music". I think this could be described as that. And I like it very much, because of its fresh sound. :)
It is amazing how the human mind can differential relatively between what is noise and utterly inspiring sonic transitions in time. I was inspired. I hope others were as well... though honestly, I really wish I'd been there in person... nothing like real acoustics.
Nice performance. Thanks for putting this up. You might consider putting some program notes in the video description - date of performance, what church this was at, who the other two performers are, tunings used.
Fascinating and beautiful sounds. Good music.
