A lot of people used to scoff at the idea of Rusty and Dale being friends. True, they had their difficulties on and off the track, but when it came down to it, they were always there for each other. Whether it be when Dale stopped to check the condition of his friend after he clipped Rusty at Talledega and sent him flipping. Or when Dale pushed Rusty on a caution to help him finish a fuel mileage race.

I think their friendship/rivalry is one of the greatest stories in NASCAR history.

Because Rusty and Dale were Close friends and and competeters, They races for a long time togather and most Dale fans liked Rusty, Gordon although i dont agree with the fans for throwing beer cans, but "They hate gordon" all dale fans did at least most of em.. and they throw cans at all Hendrick cars
