  • that thing sounds like it has A 107 lobe separation angle or something real aggressive for an N/A motor. could just be that the fast wasnt set and it was drooling all over its self. If its making 900 with a big overlap cam then it would make ridiculous power with less overlap cause your not venting boost pressure out the exhaust

  • I know you're tuning for idle. But wouldn't it be better if the supercharger were actually hooked up? As it'll be pulling either more vacuum at idle or pushing more air depending on how you've got it all done. Hence needing to be re-tuned again? Or is this just getting a starting idle done for you to modify later once all that is hooked up?

  • @chughes44 Have you ever built a motor? 900 horse isnt hard to reach if you have the know how and money and start with a good base block. these guys know what they are doing when it comes to building sb chryslers. shit, we are making about 700 on a lightly tuned 78 camaro with stock bottom end and stock turbo 400 (cant believe they have held together at all). Just a 350 with a very nice top end and s475 borg warner on about 9lbs boost and 93 octane gas. fastest run is 11.27 at bandimere

  • @chughes44 ok, go on my page and look at the camaro on there. 78 z28. list of what is done. 350ci small block chevy bored .30 over( not stroked) full port and polish on the heads,750cfm carb, custom ground cam, valves, lifter, seats, retainers all new. headers off old school corvette flipped over into three inch pluming into a borg warner s475 series turbo with two blow off vavles because it was cheaper and just as effective and 1 waste gate, msd 6al box with a 3step launch control, 2800 stall.

    @Bryce, you really are retarded. That is like a 106 or 108 LSA camshaft, higher lift and duration have some effect on the lope, but it's mainly the LSA(I know you have to look this term up).

    Anyway, that is one bad ass idle.

  • YOU'RE an idiot, bryce. The cam doesn't need more torque to turn causing the lopey idle. For every lobe pushing a lifter up, there's a lifter on the back side of another lobe helping to turn the cam. Anyway, it's the valve overlap which causes the idle lope. Mmm, yummy sound.

  • Lifters don't help turn the cam dumbass. Theres a timing chain, belt, or geardrives that turn it off the crankshaft. Is the world getting stupid now or what? And no it's the Lobe seperation that causes your motor to lope.

  • Yes, the lifters actually do. After peak lift the lifter is on the back side of the lobe going downward and being pushed downward, which helps to turn the cam in the clockwise direction. However, at the same time, there are just as many lifters resisting this turning which are being pushed upward... so yes, a crank driving gears/belt/chain is needed to turn the cam. LSA has a large bit to do with degrees of valve overlap. This overlap is what allows the reversion which causes the choppy idle

  • You guys really don't pay attn....these are the same guys running 1000+rw on their SRT8 Jeep, and they post a video of messing with this Ram, and you assume that since the inlet tube is not hooked up that it is not laying down 760rw in a lifted 4x4? Yes, that is 900 crank on that truck, I was there when they dynoed it with the 33's and full running gear. They had another smaller T trim 408ci making less boost at 690rw.

This is my first post on this thread but to put down 900 HP with a 408 you must have either some serious juice or boost and it appears that he does not have either so my thoughts are NO he is not making 900 HP. Actually the supercharger is only creating drag since it is not even hooked up.

  • too much cam for the engine. The over-lap on it kills any effcency gained by adding a super-charger. In addition your using a horspower number which IMHO is a sign that you may not know much about engine building as for an off-road vechicle the performance of an engine is gauged in torque. Id like to shoot down your claim that it is pushing 900 horsepower but without a Dyno run I have little or no way to determine the exact number,but as an estimation for a blown 408 stroker id say around 650hp

  • Hate to say it but I got to ask, looks to me like that charger is not hooked up other than the fact that the belt is on. It looks like there is nothing on the throttle body except the wide open plates, And if you are saying that you have it hooke up then what is the open pipe on the charger, air filter, if so PUT ONE ON it is not good for a turbo or chrger of anykind to run with out a filter, the engine alone is okay but a charger with no filter is painful

  • If had the money to build the engine, then he has the money to build the trans, and it wouldn't take much. The "RE"(or Loadflite) transmission is still basically a 727 Torqueflite, which when built, can be very strong and reliable.
