Yes, this was translated in tagalog, GABING MAPANGLAW and was used as a love theme in the movie of the same title. Not sure though if produced by LVN or Sampaguita, two of the giant movie companies way back.
Thanks for your quick reply. I found one on YT but it's not the original and i kinda notice the 3rd paraphrase is very different from the original. I know because i had a copy of the musical score sheet before but lost it due to constant moving of our family. Thanks again.
@personalkoment - i'm familiar with that music but i don't have it. a couple of postings with vocals by Nita (unfinished) and by susan cuevas are on YT. i will post it if i find it..... :)
Beautiful composition .. full of melancholy and tenderness.
The translation of the lyrics support the feeling and emotion of this beautiful song in a special way..very well done..thank you dear Nancy for sharing..
@TheEdfox53 Lecuona is also the author of Malagueña & Always in My Heart. When I learned that, I had to create a playlist for his music. My 550 playlists are intended to honor the best music & musicians from around the world. 350 artists each have a list & every year since 1900 has a list too, so you can listen like you've stepped back in time, so you'll hear this on 1929's list, the year Lecuona wrote it!
Thanks always to the uploaders who make my channel possible!
Thank You so, so, very much, 65 seasons. This is the song my dear mama taught me when I was only 7 (Im 54). She passed on last Oct. and I have been moving heaven and earth to find this song. I thought this is an A. Dvorak composition. Good I tried entering the first few words of the tagalog version in the search box. Its true - "Knock and it shall be opened........ Million thanks again.
Thanks for sharing Nancy...Easily brings my memory back to the 60's..We had a neighbor then having piano lessons and this was one of the very frequent tunes I would listen to. Thanks for uploading, 65Seasons!
Thank you so much, 65 Seasons, for posting this beautiful piece. This is a piece that I always love playing on the piano, at least its simplified version. Back in my country (the Philippines), this is sung with lyrics called "Tuwing Lulubog Ang Araw, Aking Mahal" which literally means 'every time the sun sets, sweetheart' or something like it. This brings me back straight to my childhood. And hey, Nancy, thank you too for bringing this to my attention. Regards, Fred

@cacallalily88 I saw it in a book of songs that Placido Domingo sang. This was one of them along with Siboney, Andalucia and Malaguena.
