Actually, my experience did not damage me in any way. I lost a very modest investment, and maybe 300 hrs of my life which may have been better spent. I did witness my sponsor lose far more over 4 years, however. My issue with Amway is linked to their willingness to tolerate the abuses and false claims made by their IBO Groups (Amway Motivational Organisations)

I have never seen anyone work so diligently, so hard. That business never amounted to anything. If you want to be successful, go back to school, specialize in something. I'm no longer with amway. Don't ask, its a long story. Not everyone has the time to be selling product, but everyone needs to buy stuff in order to eat and maintain thier houses. So instead of looking of people who will sell stuff (really hard to find them), find people who buy stuff anyway for thier daily needs of life (easy to find). So if these people that buy stuff anyway, why not buy it from somewhere where they pay you back.

absolutely. if it comes to the point where this becomes an "oddjob" salesman gig, then you need some help and mentorship. there's nothing to be ashamed of if this doesn't work for you. it happens. but the fact is, like you said, there will always be a need. people have to eat, people want clean water, people care about their health. you can fulfill that need, or fulfill your own for less than the market price.
