Couple questions. Is it possible to over polish and actually hurt the guns performance? Also what lube do you reccomend? The standard stuff that comes with the A-5?

The only way u could over polish is if you just keep going at it after its already all shiny and finished, in which case you're dumb (not saying you specifically are), so NO probably not.

The lube that came with the gun works fine though u can get gun/multi purpose oil that works good too. Just make sure it doesnt have any alcohol or things that will destroy the o-rings.

Well you can lube the gun, but don't put any between the two receivers. The overspray will come off with the oil and will cause a sticky mess on the inside of your gun, destroying consistency.

What in the world are you referring to?

First off, WD-40 is not a lube. Second, I am using the WD-40 to remove the junk that was just sanded off. Thirdly, I state that you are supposed to re lubricate your internals so that they operate correctly.

I was referring to a comment I had made before, but for some odd reason it didn't show up. What it mean was that you shouldn't lube the receivers unless your internals are polished, because it will just mix with the overspray and cause that sticky mess. When your internals are polished, there isn't much, if any, overspray for it to mix with, allowing it to increase performance by lubricating it. I posted the original comment just as a generic warning, and I posted the second to fix a mistake.

another big tip.. if you are wetsanding..make sure IT IS WETSAND PAPER.. :D i looked like a noob the first time i did that in one of the first shops i worked in lol

Which method would you recommend? Using sandpaper, or the Brillo pads?

I would recommend the sandpaper if you wan the BEST results. The Brillo method works as well, but the sandpaper can actually smooth down the receivers, while the Brillo isn't hard enough to scratch the receivers.

To spray on the receivers when I wiped them off? That was WD-40, and should only be used to clean the receivers. You should relube with an oil/lube once you are finished polishing.

Cool, so how many times a year would you do this?

You will only polish your internals once. It is only removing the overspray. Once that is removed, there is no need to polish your internals again.
