Talk about pictures having nothing to do with the music. Thomas Newman is the greatest composer. Whoever provided the pictures is what I would call "clueless". Beautiful, haunting music represented by souless photos. Buildings instead of nature. Wow. No talent..no soul.
@cmf4321 Thanks for the "clueless" remark. Got me clutching my insides from laughing. Firstly, I AM clueless, about everything. I am an amateur in more ways than one, and I don't profess to be full of talent and wisdom (not like you, perhaps?). You can find "soul" in everyday objects, and dull, lifeless structures, too. That's what Thomas Newman's music does. Instead of being critical of my "soul-less" existence, why not go somewhere else? Better yet, go jump, you full of soul, you.
right when i turned it on it reminded me of france in about the 1700's of a woman on a farm doing work then getting on a carriage to go to the city, then walking around in the streets with this music in the background admiring everything around her.
@eskimojoe1, thank you for pointing that one out. a lot of viewers often miss the notes or description in the category. You are correct: the photo collection/video is self-titled, but is inspired by Thomas Newman's Angels in America theme. Cheers!
people dont realise how talented. no how much of a genius this guy is. I'm studying to become a fiilm director and without a doubt thomas will be the first on my list for someone to collaborate with. He can transport you and take you away from your bad feelings. Life just seems easier when you listen to the Newman.
Ever since the beginning of time, music has been a necessity to the human race. Some people help us see that it still is--thank you, Thomas Newman, for showing us that some things really are bigger than us.
@thecoolestfreak, the music is from "Angels in America", an HBO TV mini-series with Meryl Streep and Al Pacino. The images are my own photos. I hope you enjoyed it, and thanks for viewing.
guys i never been big thing for this but get this and rest of his song on ipod or mp3 go out side and life becomes 1 and fells like you are finaly at peace with nature hipps eat heart out. go out side and you think to your self ....wow
Our town has fallen to the shadows. As our crops slowly withered under the sunless sky, and our town became that of nightmarish dreams, we could only pray for a saviour. Many moons past before he came. He stood above the hills with a golden glow behind him, like an angel from the Heavens. One by one he slayed those who had cast us into this darkness. As our town was once again kissed with luminosity of life he vanished, without word nor goodbye. To this day I wonder, who was that man
I would love to hear this rearranged and performed by a good a cappella choir. This piece has a melancholy to it that is right up there with Barber's 'Adagio for Strings'.
Reminds me of one of his other pieces a score off the shawshank redemption soundtrack, it is used in the film when red (morgan freeman) is opening the letter left by Andy Dufresne (tim robbins) great scene beautiful music

Has a kind of haunting sadness to it, but this is one of the most beautiful compositions I have ever heard.
