Well played. But I have to agree with another one of the comments that has been posted......It's too fast and a lot of the feeling has been lost. It is a very simple melody but if the feeling is not there it's just a bunch of notes being played. Just like any other piece

however, and this is my personal opinion, i don't really like the way you play it. For me, i'd say it's too fast, and so you'd loose the romantic side of it...

but still, you're skilled!

And I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the two I'm working on now, and I ~really~ don't need the diversion. So many songs to learn, so little time...

I actually learned this when I was in intermediate. It's a lot of repeats, it's challenging but it will help build your technique and it is very short. If you attack the piece hands separately you should be able to learn it within 2 months perfectly.

This is one of the worst renditions I have heard. The timing jumps all over the place. Accented notes are wrongly played. it simply has no heart or soul.

yup it was a piece of junk:P but you don't understand the reasons for recording this when i did do it. I think i played it very poorly myself, but others seem to enjoy it ^_^ I guess that's cool, but honestly it was quite bad, although the tempo changes are called "rubato" which was something i was aiming to do, even if it did appear extreme.

I'm not trying to be an expert or anything, just giving an opinion. This piece is an amazing piece, and... you have good technique, but I can't notice the dynamics, it is too fast, I can't feel the song or even cry to it as I have with other players (or when I play it myself). It's a Brahm's piece, and a beautiful one as well, must be played tenderly and with passion, and as you said, it's like a lullaby. Other than that, you seem like a great pianist, it was just an opinion, continue on man!

hey thanks for your comment, i COMPLETELy agree with you, there was a lack of passion in this, and i know i can do better ^_^ that point in my life was really weird, i wasn't able to play the piano much at all since i had heart problems and tendonitous so i felt really cold inside, i couldnt' even express any emotion

well i learnt this song a very long time ago, i think i was only in RCM grade 6 at the time, and i taught it to myself in about a week, so i'm sure you could learn it ^_^ as far as i know, it's on the ARCT list combined with over a dozen other brahms pieces that all need to be played together as one list. or so i was told.

I think if you're a pianist and you're going to post a vid you should post one of you playing without stopping and cutting and such... Your technique is good but it lacks feeling. It's too rushed. Some parts are very good but other parts miss the right feeling which is very important for this piece. I love the performance from Wibi Soerjadi (a ducth pianist) on this one.

thats because he's sight reading. This stops the interpretation somewhat because the player is concentrating on the notes, not feeling.
