  • I wondered if Jonathan Ross liked Million Dollar Baby.

  • The great thing about Rocky is that Stallone doesn't win..he loses.

  • @mooneepondskid Shows what Ross knows - fuck all.

  • Rocky doesn't win in Rocky

  • I think Jonathan fails to see how almost all films rely on some adversity (or underdog status) of the main characters to create tension within the story without which films aren't all that compelling. Just imagine LOTR where the humans outnumber Sauron's lot by 50 to 1, suddenly isn't all that great.

  • @mrfrostynova He won't have "failed" to see this common element, rather, he is against the overt use of the underdog.

On a side note: I personally see the logic in having Sauron's lot being outnumbered. Do you not see that?

  • i think he needs to rewatch Escape to Victory!!

  • So, were those two guys Morecambe and Wise?

  • ROCKY DIDNT WIN IN THE FIRST ROCKY MOVIE APOLLO CREED DID!!!!. whats wrong with these people

  • formu LARIC? lol, isnt he supposed to be a film reviewer?

  • SWEET BABY MOSES !

"The boy with the tits is asking for it"

    LMAO

  • ironically 1984 has an unhappy ending

    (room101 is a reference to 1984)

  • Not it isn't, it is from the book nineteen eighty-four.

  • rocky doesn't win at the end of the first movie. apollo does...

  • Yeah but the point of that movie was not that Rocky wanted to win, but he wanted to go the distance because knowone ever had with Creed. Therefore it is a victory for Rocky and a victory for the audience albeit a moral one.

  • that is true.

  • Oh bullshit. Stallone didn't start talking about Rocky at all it was Ross who decided to bring the movies up and kept pressing Stallone for answers about the Rocky films while basically kissing his ass the whole time, going on about how much he loved them.

Stallone on the other hand kept trying to talk about Rambo which he was there to promote and most likely would not have mentioned the old Rocky films at all.

  • Ross didn't seem too disparaging over Slumdog Millionaire, which just happens to be a plucky underdog film.

In fact he salivated all over it.

  • That movie was very different I think.

    But Agreeeed :)

  • He does say at the beginning of his rant that he kind of likes the films but wants to hate them or something to that effect,

  • When Stallone was on Ross's show last year Ross went on and on about how much he loved the Rocky films.

    Ross is two-faced.

  • I don't think he ever said he hated Rocky

  • I thought the game ended as a draw in Escape to Victory.

  • Yeah it was a draw, there was no come from behind victory for the underdogs like these two idiots are going on about.

  • Stallone saved a penalty in this last minute if my memory is correct. I cant remember this amazing run he went on.

  • I think hypocrisy is a bit too far. Inconsistency. Even if he doesn't like underdog films he can still enjoy Rocky cos they are very very good. And he does truly enjoy those films.

  • The thing is, it's room 101. Bill Bailey did something on a mind reading dog. The thing is, it's not a serious show. It's just something trivial for the guests to rant on. THAT's the humor. Sometimes they make good points but the triviality is the humor of it, largely. They don't really discuss issues like poverty and famine because it's a comedy show. IMO.

  • yea but i think he means all the sequels they made of it where he always won in the end

  • hypocrite, in friday night he was sucking up to stalone about how great the rocky movies are.

  • @diefortacos He's a right slimy cunt - I hate him.

  • i agree with him but didnt rocky lose?
