Fuel cell is the best way to power the electric car, there is a Singapore company( I forgot the name) that makes fuel cell power packs & solar powered electrolysis to produce hydrogen from water to recharge the fuel cell packs. BTW this same company makes mini fuel cell packs for the US military mini UAV program because the fuel cell size is the same as the UAV battery pack.
If you can switch batteries fast and cheap, which could happen in the future, this could offset the need to recharge. You could keep several batteries and change when you need to. And you could rent batteries in stops like gas stations, and drop them off at other locations of the same franchise.
its a POSSIBILITY I know someone that worked with battery powered fork lifts the batterys weighed like 300+ pounds conservitively. and took hours to charge. I think that hybrid tech is the way to go. or battery tech needs to be advanced before its used regualrly. my humble opinion. I won't deny that there are applications for its use. its just limited at the moment
I know. The Tesla Roadser is a convertible, electric, version of a Lotus Elise. It takes 16 hours to charge though and costs $90,000 (or was it 100,000?). Tesla said they would make a sedan that only takes 45 minutes to charge and only costs $50,000.
I really love the gas powered atom, always wanted one so really nice to see something like this. We need more proof of concept for electric. If I could get an electric car for a good price, that's fast, with good millage, and swappable batteries so I dont have to charge while I sleep, then I'd completely switch.
this is wank the atom should not be compared who would want to drive that in the rain it is a track day car there isnt even room for a spare pair of shoes
yes there is. the front part that is red opens up and has storage and this car is not meant to be a everyday car. its for fun. like a big go kart you take out just to have fun
if it was a track day car it would have a Honda type R engine in the back i its not fun everyone would just fall to sleep with ppl trying to tell them making it run on batteries is an improvement i dont think so
u want an electic atom over type r atom as a track day car answered the stupid question yawn why dont u just go back to playing with urself and stop talking about cars as u probley dont even know how to change ur oil
wow you obviously are like 14 years old. i was probably changing oil when your mom was changing your shit diaper. lol "stop talking about cars". um incase you didn't know, this video is ABOUT CARS you stupid fuck. why wouldn't I be talking about them? And I dont have to play wit myself. my girl does that for me while im driving my car.
well I think taht you are forgetting about diesel... diesel, unlike their gasoline counterparts, don't need fossil fuels to operate... refit your fuel lines with neoprene, go to your local resturant, and get some of their used cooking oil, run it through a coffie filter, and there you go. it performs just as good, if not better than petro diesel.
and for those of you that don't think that diesels can be fast, go to farm boys diesel dot com and click the video link.
blck15yrold, wrong!! This car also wins in a track race too. Type in Wrightspeed X1 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo in the search field above (or copy the text and paste it).
The Gasoline powered Ariel Atom runs the 1/4 mile in 11.5 secs with 300 HP peak. This converted to electric is only 200 HP peak, yet it runs the 1/4 mile in 11.9 secs. Its just a little bit slower.
...electric cars are more efficent and because of the torque and the power curve of the electric motor it is superior in race performance to the gasoline...the only problem are the batteries, wich are still not develped enough to supply power to a powerfull engine for a long time. The technology however is progressing very quickly so there should be an electric future (not like the oil is gonna last forever)...I look forward to see an electric veichle in racing soon
As whitelsc says, motors have an absolute shitload of torque, so it won't have any problems getting away from the line, at all.
In fact, that gives a large advantage to the GT, because it's a fat, heavy beast compared to the Atom, so you want a rolling start.
Either way, an electric car will never sound as good as that Porsche or Ferrari, and that's what buying a supercar is about - the whole package of feel.
Really quick, this car wouldn't win in a race. The rolling start was most likly due to the amount of time it takes for the electric car to get off of the line. BUT I would prefer the eletric car cause I don't want my kids to be born with cancer! Whoa
i am sorry but this car sucks, why? because the other cars has torque. Lets hit the ramp see who climbs faster, also i wonder how the results will change if their rolling start was a bit faster.
Whoopdee freaking do. If you care about torque so much, go ruin the enviorment and go buy a Ferrari. Or, you can help to prevent global warming and avoid peak oil by buying an electric car. Electric is the future, and who cares about torque. If you have an electric car, at least you dont have the jolting start that will give you whiplash.
Oh yeah... no environmental impact from those power plants (coal? nukes?) or from that battery manufacturing (heavy metals?). Yeah, not to mention how many people would die from a 10-minute recharge station, which would need 1/2 a megawatt per car.
Better to filter at the power plant than each car. Also auto battery are one of the most excellent examples of near perfect recycling the whole battery is reused to make new batteries.....try googling its really amazing. also soon we wont be using batteries at all just Ultracapacitors.

yea.,...but thats one car. Diesals are beasts desinged for torque, not revs and speed. Elevtric is the shit! You cant touch it!

lets see how well that atom fairs with 7,000 lbs. behind it, or how far it can go in beteween charges
poohbearscub 4 years ago
let's see how far the Ferrari gets before it needs refueling.
Tikila6996 3 years ago
prolly further than the atom does, and it'll only take 5 min to fill back up

but it wouldn't win a race where the batteries in the X1 had to be recharged mid race, and the lambo had to be filled up
poohbearscub 3 years ago
Maybe if they could make a way to switch batteries fast, like in a remote, they could basically just do that at pit stops in long duration races.

The original Ariel Atom beat both these cars anyway.

Electric motors make a shit-ton of torque.
Check out the video of it doing 0-60 in 3 seconds.
whitelsc 4 years ago
big deal..... the stock atom does 0-60, in like 2.8, and I've even heard of faster if you launch in 2nd
