  • How did you get such high magic defense?

  • I trained constantly, with Mindu still in the party, for 50 hours. As you take hits from enemies, magic defense gradually raises.

  • Haha I have done the same thing, except at the start I leveled up Mindu's warp spell and warped those Captains in Fynn for Golden Armour/Flame bow drops ;D Then run down to Mysidia and get uber armour =P Doesn't Josef leave the party ;/?

  • Josef does leave the party and gets replaced by Gordon, one of my favorites, but he has just 64 HP....

  • wow amazing

  • 50 hours of random battles!? Man... you're insane :P

  • If you were to think about it, I can then go through the entire game focusing very strongly on the story instead of having to train a bit, proceed, train more, proceed, and so on. It allows for a much better focus on the game's story.

  • When I played through FF2 I never trained my characters at all, and I did all right using berserk and blink spells through most of the game. When I got to the final boss I was way underpowered, but my main character's agility (maxed) along with a blink spell made him impossible for the final boss to hit. The rest of my party died, but I was able to whittle down the last boss with one character. I am definitely a fan of the experience system in FF2.

  • If you want a side challenge, find a way to get max HP, as I've got here, for everyone before you first visit the Semitt Falls. I, too, had the case of the final boss unable to hit Maria especially.

  • why does josef have a weapon.. he's suppost to be unequiped.

  • Weapons make him stronger so I added them. Afterall, you aren't supposed to get the "ogrekiller" weapon until you get about 2/3 of the way through the game's story and I first got it practically at the very beginning of the story, as soon as I got Mindu. That's the best thing (and fun thing) about this game.

  • personally i like leveling better that or the grid system in ff10

  • I've never seen nor played 10, though I've seen the box front. I don't recall it though. I've played FF1, FF2, FF5 (boring), FF6, FF7 (best story), FF8 (boring but with renewed interest), FF9 (stuck in the storyline), FF12, and FF Tactics.

  • aww man i hated the combat system in 12

  • 12's combat system is good, if it weren't for all the bugs, especially with nonleader characters and cliffs with ranged weapons where one of the worst bugs are. Another annoying bug is when a nonleader character casts a spell - they stay put rather than move with the pack. When the leader has gone berserk, he/she cannot be controlled at all, even if no enemies are nearby. If these were fixed, it'd be much better.

  • Polar opposites. I try to defeat games with the lowest level and shortest time.

  • It's very common I max out the clock. FF1 - 60 hours or so. FF2 (this game), 80 hours. FF6 - 110 hours or so (don't recall). FF7 - 200 hours. FF9 - probably 150 hours... with level 35 or so (I'm stuck (I just got Quina in terms of the story) with what to do and the guide is useless). FF12 - 350 hours. FF Tactics - 360 hours (and still not technically completed). FF8 probably has 5 hours, but found it too boring. FF5 has around 30 hours, but it's somewhat boring.

  • After you get Quina you go through the swamp.

  • I've searched but got nowhere. Then again, it's been so long since I last played it (I don't know where the case is).... I recall that I also got that very expensive item in that chocobo minigame.

  • I really hated 9 when it first came out, I beat it anyway but I hated it. But I played it again last year. It's a lot more solid than I remembered after playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. (The whole equipping weapons to learn skills approach)

  • 9's music is excellent and is likely a good chunk of the reason why I was able to get to level 35 or so where I'm at. I would like to play FF9 again for the music.... One song, that of the battle music, has been listened to for 46 consecutive days, my second-place record.

  • That's impressive, and a little odd. ^.^ But I'm glad you like the music. Kingdom Hearts had some very good music, have you played that series?

  • I've only heard about Kingdom Hearts, but very rarely. I've never seen the actual game on a TV screen, just the front of the case in a store. I vaguely recall this though. My current official record is 52 1/4 consecutive days for the same song and 17 days for the same song and same speed. Both records are held by Final Fantasy 6's world map music. Third place is 42 days and 12 days with FF1's world map music and FF9's battle music (respectively).

  • Look into kingdom hearts. It has a different combat system, but you still get the same Final Fantasy spells and some of the characters. In Kingdom Hearts 2 they even have Setzer from FF6 in 3-D with voice acting.

  • needs commentary. you have a very soothing voice

  • When it says 15 hit, does it mean your doing around 15k damage?

  • Each hit actually does about 100 damage. 100*15 gives about 1500. It's just the way FF1 and FF2 worked back then.
