  • one of the best songs on the new album <3 CHEVELLE for life!

  • Chevelle is awesome I love there music, great vocals, and musicianship.

  • this song is really beautiful. my favorite part is at 2:23 when he says "Fate has tortured us for too long" his voice is amazing. But really i like the whole song.

  • the lyrics of this songs are absolutely brilliant..."those burning eyes indeed define the churning of a soul. Feels better to be lost, but haven't felt the choice for so long."...some of the best lyrics I have ever heard

  • im a fan of chevelle, but their music could definately be more interesting and ambitious. there is an amateurish aspect to their sound.

  • My favorite song of entire album.Relaxing music and Pete's vocals create awesome effect(like always:)

  • Let me tell you something guys... with this album Chevelle is way beyond Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones and whatever other band they're compared with. This is their best work so far and this is the best song on the album (as far as I'm concerned). Lyrics and music and the vocals are so much in tune with eachother. Wonderful, powerful stuff this!

Hats off to you, the Chevelle guys! I hope you'll come to Holland one day and I can see you guys in action. Keep it up!

  • THESE LYRICS ARE FREAKING AMAZING!!!! This is one of my favorite songs on this album because they put the lyrics together perfecly. The first time i listened to this song i had goose bumps that wouldnt go away. Chevelle is my cocaine

  • @whogavehimafork Are you scraping & snorting their skin or finely chopping the CD's??

  • "Behind these civilized eyes."

  • Great song fate has tortured us for so long

for so long my demons its countdown for me but you with blindfolds you held us till i found the best!!!best

  • this song is engraved in my brain now, and I still keep playing it over and over again

  • they didi it again! first, vitamin r, then Letter from a thief, and now this song... has to be the third single (melodical and little bit smoother than the first two singles) you know what i mean...

  • I hearby declare Chevelle from now and hereafter to be called "FUNGUS" because this awesome shit slowly grows in your EARS until you are craving it like Crack! not that I ever smoked the stuff but I'm just sayin'... ROCK ON CHEVELLE!!

  • every chevelle album has bonus tracks u just have to go to the right place to buy it get the new one at best buy

  • i think chevelle is awsome .one of chevelles musical influences is tool. maybe thats why some people hear it in thier music .i think tool/perfect circle is to melow

  • The more I listen to every single song on this album, the more hooked on it I get. Every song should be a radio hit.

  • I don't understand where all the so called Chevelle fans went.....How did this album only reach number 20 on the 200? This is like their best album behind 'Wonder whats next'.

  • @robhartjr1993 i actually think that This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In, was one of their best albums...i will agree that ALL of their albums are great, but TTOTCDUI was one of the best, NEXT to Wonder Whats Next

  • I'm in loooove with this song :-)

  • sooooooooo.......hypnooooooooootic.........

  • My favorite on the new album

  • Every time I forget about how awesome Chevelle is, they come up with albums like these to reel me back in.

  • Does it rlly matter wat song is bttr?..... i think all songs from Chevelle are fukkin awesome!!!! does anyone agree, oh nd also this is a CHEVELLE video not a TOOL video so STFU nd listen to the songs dammit!

  • Just....wow. *-*

  • Chevelle: All the awesomeness of TooL without the hardcore mind trip.

  • @TheLoopLight just gtfo

    goddamn you people are annoying

  • my god the most beautiful music ever heard

  • I could care less if they carry a resemblance to Tool, I like both bands.

  • I disagree that they are "hit and miss" type band. I think that a few of there songs are extremely amazing and it drowns out some of the other songs on the album, but the fact is after a few months I find myself wanting to listen to the other songs more than the mega hits.

  • @thetopknot I agree with you for the most part. For me, I'll instantly like or love some songs, then I'll play them to death and like you, I'll find myself later on liking the other songs I didn't listen to as much before more than the ones I liked at first. Its been that way with me for Chevelle with both Vena Sera and Sci fi crimes. Wonder what's next was like HOTTB in that I loved almost the entire album almost immediately.

  • @thetopknot

Well done. You enjoy Chevelle's talents and abilities at their best if you have come to understand that on every one of their albums, the songs that aren't "radio hits" are even better.

  • @thetopknot frankly i find myself agreeing with you and the fact that they are one of my favorite bands because of this reason, that all their songs has a level of quality about them. Same could be said for the band Trapt...

  • @Samek15 At least chevelle can actually put on a good show. Same can't be said for Trapt though

  • @thisistheescapeplan That is unfortunetly true. :(

  • Can we all drop the tool thing. They do not sound like them. I am guessing a quick riff or bass line that is similar makes them the same. Very different bands. Anyway, great song.

  • I think chevelle is a hit and miss sort of band they will have 4 or 5 good songs on there albums and the rest is just wallpaper but this is a great song

  • @jerbo28 I would have to disagree with that comment, but each his own

  • @jerbo28 i think you dad should have "hit and missed" when he fucked your mom and splooged on the sheets

  • Best song off the new album. Possibly the best song by Chevelle.

  • @jheiden22 IDK man, letters from a theif is a great song.

  • @NASCARGUY51139 I couldn't agree more. One of my favorite songs ever.

  • Best songs out this album are: revenge, prima donna, and envy. BORIGOTU out.

  • epic

  • this makes my dick vibrate

  • @Nihilsinelabore25 might wanna check that out man..haha jk. great song

  • Best Chevelle song I've heard in a while. Awesome! The deep bass and rhythm is amazing in the chorus.

  • never really appreciated how good this song was until now... absolutely amazing

  • In all seriousness,I am a huge Chevelle fan. That being said, I was a little hesitant when it came to this album. I just didn't feel the same as I did when listening to their previous work. That was also before I bought the album and started to really listen to it. This is now my favorite album by Chevelle and this song is one of my favorites. People need to stop comparing them to Tool, because they are two very unique and amazing bands. Chevelle is not Tool, and vice versa. Enjoy the music.

  • @bigdogmark45 Ya, Tool is more similar to A Perfect Circle ... which has the same lead singer. Btw, both good bands and may be similar to Chevelle but Chevelle holds its own unique tone and feel without having to be compared to other bands.

  • @bigdogmark45 you're just a clone of them

  • @bigdogmark45 Well said

  • This song rocks, it has grown on me since i first listened to it,like the title track

  • " For so long (my demons) REVENGE "

  • I just got done playing 12 hours of FF13 while listening to this song.. I'm still not sick of it. Idk if I ever could.

  • I just can't stop listening to this song, which I find happening to a lot of songs on this album (Pinata, anyone!?). When he says "Me, I let the panic ride and pin it on the wall" - I just love this part so frickin' much and can't explain it. And whatever the eerie instrument is in the background, I adore it.

  • Amazing.

  • This is just... Sexy. I'm in love with this songg!

  • dean played guitar on this song, and Pete played bass.

  • pete for president

  • @22hec44 It's not long if you compare it to Tool, which I think they are.

  • this is the best song on the album that I've heard so far,....finally meeting expectations

  • i like chevelle because they don't take forever to release an album

  • @22hec44 That's not true it takes them around 3 years to release an album, that's pretty long compared to most modern bands.

  • I love tool. I love chevelle. They are two very different bands. The only thing that is the same about them is that they both rock as hell. Period and peace.

  • @ahole4630 amen brother

  • 1.Arise 2.The Meddler 3.Revenge 4. Glimpse of the con 5. Pinata 6.Ruse 7.Envy 8.Face to the floor 9. Same old trip 10. Prima Donna 11.Hats off to the bull 12. Clones Something like that

  • I dont see how Chevelle even resembles TOOL whatsoever, anyway, they are just a great solid Rock band, good thing I got to see them with BUSH a few months ago, they were awesome live.

  • which song is better. Revenge or Envy?

  • @crazedfan070589 they are my two favorite off of the new album. They are both so dark and amazing.

  • @crazedfan070589

That's one of the hardest questions to ask me lol

  • How do I describe this? Chevelle. That's how I describe it.

  • TOOL, HURT, and pink floyd are my fav bands but who's the only band that i have all of the cd's too? CHEVELLE!

ill be making a music video to this one

check out the ones ive got!

  • Here's my ranking (favorite to least favorite) of the songs on Hats Off To The Bull: 1. Revenge 2. Ruse 3. Clones 4. Hats Off ToThe Bull 5. Pinata 6. Face To The Floor 7. Same Old Trip 8. The Meddler 9. Arise 10. Envy 11. Prima Donna
  • Thank God for Chevelle. Everytime they come out with a CD, I just think, "Hey, what the hell is Tool doing? Are they going to come out with a new CD soon, or what? But, oh well. At least we have Chevelle."

Chevelle. WTF? Almost everyone else is just on the outside looking in.

  • Sounds nothing like Tool.

  • One of many that totally rock on this album.

  • i absolutely love how chevelle has evolved over the years. like a fine wine, they get better with age.

  • How are they like Tool.....? They maybe inspired by tool, but they sound different.

  • @MegaFuall lol you say that like its a bad thing to be sound like tool. both amazing bands, but its difficult to ignore the tool vibe this album has.

  • @oscob Tool is a good band. Tool, chevelle, and korn are my favorite bands. Chevelle doesnt sound like tool. Maybe the vocals.. but other then that nothing else

  • @MegaFuall They are definitely there own style but in some songs like Ruse you can hear how it sounds a bit like tool

  • Does Chevelle have a Grammy yet? No? They bloody deserve one for this track, if not one for Envy.

  • Sorry, I meant the lyrics and music are DEEP

  • @toolvelle Lol ToolVelle i like it shoulda capitalized the T and the V

  • I saw them in a small venue, it was awesome! I have seen the likes of Metallica, A7X and Tool. Chevelle does a better show. I can understand the comparison to Tool. The songs and music are deep, not too many that can dig this far inside.

  • Deep and thoughtful in many ways, yet random. These guys are ARTIST's! I get chills from bands like Chevelle. I thought the new one would sag and Chevelle would finally fall but I was so wrong, they keep bringing it. This song bleeds from the soul and I cant wait to see them do it live! If you love the band and ever have a chance to see them in a small venue, DO IT!!! They will make you feel like you are the music, the soul and the reason you are there!!!!

  • thumbs up if you bought the CD!

  • i hate how everyone compares chevelle to tool... theyre differenta!

  • iv been listening to chevelle since i was8 years old, i fucking love this band

  • hmm...the dislike bar is a cigarette that someone took one puff on, but decided he didn't want cancer so he stopped

  • The more i listen to this album the better it gets. Face to the floor doesnt tell the story to the album at all.

  • @zedacar That has been the case with the last two albums for me as well. Each time i listened to them, the better they got. It's awesome that Chevelle has now broke off into their own, personal sound. It used to be that they had obvious Deftones influence. Not anymore, this is their own.

  • @zedacar You dont tell the story of the album at all!

    >:D

  • Behind these civilized eyes...

  • god i hope chevelle puts out 202093194039 more albums

  • Pete Loeffler should be nominated as the best songwriter of the last two decades.

  • @NinjaSpartan17 Jasan Stepp and Todd Smith from Dog Fashion Disco should get that nod. If you want to hear some truly genius, unique and blasphemously underrated song writing, reference ANY band those two guys have to do with. Dog Fashion Disco, Polkadot Cadaver, The Altar Boys, Knives Out!, El Creepo, the list goes on. Everything they touch becomes so amazing I cant even put it into words. Youd probably really like "darkest Days" or "sweet insanity" by DFD

  • fate has tortured us for too long...

  • @OliviaM1992 That line hit me like a ton of bricks. Story of my life.

  • 2:24 in is by far the best part of the song and possibly the best chorus line I have heard in a decade!! This Album is one of those that grows on you the more you listen to it. The only other band to ever achieve that for me is Fair to Midland!

  • I bought the CD for 'Face to the Floor' and fell in love with 'Revenge'...just such a great album through and through, but this has become my new favorite song on the CD. ;) Chevelle...you are just amazing...thank you for your contribution to music greatness!

  • badass song

  • Yhjvjbgnnj

  • No where close to the best song on hats off to the bull........

  • This song will never get old! Best song on Hats off to the Bull. Thumbs up if you think that THIS should be their next single!

  • Best song on the "Hats off to the Bull" album - I expect to hear this on the radio soon - LOVE IT!

  • REVENGE!

  • Comment removed

  • This is a more mellow album, but in the same degree as Closure which to my recollection everyone loves, including myself. In fact, favorite song on the album is probably Envy.

  • that chorus is just...amazing.

    amazing song

  • This song is so freaking Awesome!!!! Absoluterly love it....

  • The tabs may take a day to be approved.

  • i cant stop pressing replay to this song the whole album is amazing not that i expected any less from chevelle but this album just has so much emotion, no screaming in it but with songs this amazing who needs the screams

  • Anyone who likes this song AND plays guitar, I have good news. I've submitted guitar tabs! I learned by ear, so if it's wrong, PLEASE give me a break.

  • The way they sing in harmony with each other sounds awesome. This is my favorite song on this album no other song like this one.

  • Is there any screaming on this new album?

  • I am a die hard chevelle fan, and ever since Vena Sera came out I've always been hard to fall in love with the new CD's until I listen to them a few times and by then Im head over heels. Really weird

  • @henabul Totally agree. The majority of this album is pretty chill. I want some heavier songs, but i'm sure they'll grow on me.

  • wonder whats next and this type of thinking are my favorite because they bring back so many great memories of when i was younger. but all their albums are great and well put together. this might be my third. this album rocks!

  • how is it possible to dislike these guys? oh wait, i get it. It's just Joe Loefler and their illegitimate fourth brother :)

  • Of course they're new album isn't going to sound the same as the others, but who wants to listen to a band that sounds the same with every song? That's what makes Chevelle amazing. They can be hardcore and heavy, and then be soft and melodic. They capture the true essence of what makes a song great: emotion. We don't only have one emotion, so why only have one sound? And if there is anything this album does NOT lack, it's emotion. If you can't feel that while listening to it, then I pity you.

  • @Wafflestheloser I completely agree, they retain a sense of themselves even as they become more and more recognized and apart of mainstream music. You can feel the emotion and sentiment toward any given subject in a song as Pete sings. Totally unique in the sea of today's cookie cutter crap.

  • @Wafflestheloser My thoughts exactly!

  • What beautiful lyrics....

  • Chevelle is better than tool. who cares anyways. the more music in the genre the better.

  • Why is everyone just now making the TOOL comments? Where have you been all these years? The TOOL comparisons are so last decade. Just enjoy it. Plus this song has more of an APC type sound anyways.

  • fuck me they just keep getting better and better ........

Music wise they aren't Tool. Tool can only be Tool. Tool comes from 3/4 of the members being Freemasons, or watching their parents perform weird rituals in the back yard with swords like is the case with Danny Carey. HOWEVER creatively they are definatly cast from the same mold as Tool is.

  • @wonderwall135 well the reason is that they want to play around with different styles.....not just stick to screaming in every album........they said they wanted to have at least 1 hardcore album......which was wonder what's next

  • @Anthonythebest1 they said they were going to go back to their roots on this album and make it heavy and raw. its good, but definitely not heavy or raw sounding. oh well.

  • Great day to be a Chevelle fan! Envy and The Meddler are amazing as well...still exploring the rest and loving every second.

  • Revenge - thats - cold

  • Freakin beautiful, i love it! Chevelle has done it again.

  • So I think this is catchier than 'Send The Pain Below'. Like....when I hear this song, I think to myself, "Did I really live all those years without hearing this?" Its so damn chill.

  • so..after listening to the album..fantastic work, very moving and powerful. but no screams...again? gg pete..-_-

  • Awesome song! My new favorite by Chevelle! The lyrics are brilliant, and that bass riff is genius! Keep rocking Chevelle, and merry christmas!

  • I don't mind any kind of Tool style in their music. Why? Because my 3 all time favorite bands: Chevelle, Pink Floyd, and Tool :)

  • @mandy42086 Those are some of my top favorite bands too! Favorite albums would be Hats Off to the Bull, Animals, 10,000 Days.

  • @RoyalWaste Oh man I cant pick favorite albums...but Id have to say song-wise...An Evening with El Diablo, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, and The Patient/ Parabola (the last one is a toss up!)

  • @mandy42086 very good choices

  • @mandy42086 Me too. In order, Tool, Chevelle, Pink Floyd.

  • @mandy42086

ha you are CLEARLY the only person that has any musical taste whatsoever. i created an account just so i could comment on your post.

  • @mandy42086 My three favorite bands also along with The Beatles :)

  • @mandy42086 Same three ;)

  • If you want lyrics buy the CD. Help support the greatest band on the planet.

  • my favorite song on the album

  • the more i listen, this is fucking deep album, i wanted more of a hard album from them, but this is really starting to make me fall in love. its insane how it flows and is so almost halloweenish but in a good way.

  • crowds and torches fill the air. surprise you're chosen, now finish it. yell it louder really sink that point in. that sat for so long. behind these civilized eyes. me, i'd let the panic ride and pin it on the wall. identifying pride is the saddest of the chores. those burning eyes indeed define a churning of the soul. feels better to be lost, but haven't felt the choice, for so long...revenge. that's cold. may your sources lead. connecting to ten-fold. identify your own. fate has tortured us...

  • Actually, I take back what I said. This song is AWESOME!

  • Cool. I was the 23rd like, my grandfather's lucky number!

  • @cheVellefan11 so Point #1 doesnt sound like Undertow at all? I mean yea they are 2 different bands that are very unique, but Chevelle definitely has shades of Tool every once in awhile.

  • Omfg epic Epic EPIC album ...chevelle

    No doubt fav.band

  • This is my second favorite song on the album. "The Meddler" barely beats it out.

  • great song....does anyone know where to get the lyrics? Everywhere I have checked they don't have them yet...

  • @evilangels61 ...(part 2)...for too long. for so long my demons, it's countdown for me, with blindfolds you held us, till i found the best revenge. for so long my demons, it's countdown for me. with blindfolds you held us, till i found the best revenge.

  • I haven't heard such an awesome album since Tool's Lateralus! Keep on rockin CheVelle!!

  • @Stinkfist43 already a dam Tool comparison lol i dnt think Tool and cheVelle sound anything alike...

  • @cheVellefan11 I think some songs sound like Tool but not all. I wasn't trying to compare the two I was just amazed at how good this album sounded.

  • @cheVellefan11 Chevelle list TooL as one of their influences, so some TooL vibes in their songs is too be expected.

  • @cheVellefan11 yeh they do, i dont directly compare them tho. there is guitar style influence from tool no doubt

  • im pretty sure "SO LONG" too if you listen to the lyrics it makes sense.... anyway love the new album been listening to it for like 4 days now on loudwire cant wait till my cd comes in today, i pretty much already know all the words to all the songs lol... i have already seen chevelle 2x live cant wait to go see them again just seen them last week in DC was awesome they ROCKED and so did the pit i do gotta say wish there was a song on here as hard as family system

  • @kolin0919 Family system is my all time favorite chevelle song lol yea they do need to replicate that a bit atleast for one song. He is saying So long yes. I've been listenin to this album for a few days now I got the gist of most of the lyrics but as all Chevelle songs some of the words are hard to make out.

  • 3rd best, behind the meddler and clones

  • @HatsOff2TheBull First best*
