Cohen practices Buddhism, but if you ignore his roots in Judaism you're missing the depth in a lot of his songs. lines like "she broke your throne she cut your hair" (from hallelujah) reference to the story of bathsheba from from the Torah, for instance. There are way, way more references of this type in his poems then buddhist, so far as I can tell.

From which trailer park you emerged I have no idea. But I know as PHD student of Cognitve Neuroscinece that Zen buddhism is very useful in consciousness studies all over the world. Cohen practices Buddhism, but if you ignore his roots in Judaism you're missing the depth in a lot of his songs. lines like "she broke your throne she cut your hair" (from hallelujah) reference to the story of bathsheba from from the Torah, for instance. There are way, way more references of this type in his poems then buddhist, so far as I can tell.

He probably was talking about the practical consequences of both religions, their morality and their effect on the world, and there are some major contradictions. I'm not an authority in ths subject, but i'll tell you what i know. Buddhism main subject is happiness in this lifeby the elimination of all pains. Judaism, like the religions derivated believe in a life after this one.

All I know is that he has studied and practiced Zen for many years that to me means that he is a Zen Buddhist. From which trailer park you emerged I have no idea. But I know as PHD student of Cognitve Neuroscinece that Zen buddhism is very useful in consciousness studies all over the world. As a method of training the mind not as a belive system. So yes it is quite" original" and one of the only known observable methods to calm brain activity during studies.
