Actually, the sheriff's deputies looked at the people and saw their peace loving neighbors, coworkers, and friends. We have a nice community here, and most everyone knows everyone else. Also, from what I've seen in past demonstrations is that the demonstrators usually have a pretty firm grasp on reality.

I thought that since you read a lot of books that you would place all of this in a proper historical perspective. All presidents in war have been lambasted by the citizenry. Be it Truman or Washington, approximately 49% of the populace considered them criminals. Only through the glass of history will the signifigance be clear. WWII was a disaster, at the time.
