Wow someone playing the sims on a mac lol kind of rare.
Im trying to a version close to that iMac, except it would be 3.60 I5 and 8 GB's of ram. Would you recommend that iMac for gaming (instead of getting any other mac) and can you run it on the highest graphics?
@lucashp550 Not really, I think it's more rare that someone would make a Let's Play of the Sims on a Mac because it's so time consuming. Apple recently updated their line of Macbook Pros making them faster than ever & with a better graphics card too. You could play the Sims 3 on there & with last year's MBP with ease. I would however, recommend the iMac though. Personal preference & I think it handles better.
@PerfectScenery I had that one too, but then I got it replaced (the heat censor chip was going haywire so my fan was going crazy) 2 weeks before the new iMacs came out, came back, paid a $150 restocking fee, walked out with a brand new iMac. hahaha. Next time, just use macrumors[dot]com as a reference! :)
@TiffRomance Haha, I bought mine in May, so it was 2 months before the new iMacs came out. I couldn't hold my patience, but it was a hard decision between a 2009 iMac and a 2010 MacBook Pro, sadly, I really wanted a big display, but I couldn't afford a 15", so I bought the iMac. >.< Worst decision ever made. At least it's still playable :D
@PerfectScenery I bought mine in April! But then again, I got it replaced again right before it came out. I was way lucky! But it shouldn't be that. It should be able to handle the Sims without that many issues. You could try investing $150 into 8 GB of RAM?
I'm really surprised that it doesn't do so well on your iMac. I played the Sims 3 & StarCraft 2 on the 2009 iMac & it ran perfectly fine for me without any problems.
@crunnch246 Again, use your preferred search engine to find out this information. I am not an encyclopedia when it comes to gaming/specs. I'm pretty sure that there is a better NVIDIA graphics card out there. I thought they were in their 9000s now. Plus NVIDIA is preferred over ATI Radeon.
You should upgrade to Windows 7 though. Vista blows.
@TiffRomance lol yeah sorry for annoyn you :| jsut stresed :s and cant afford de other reallly good ones so i thought ati radeo is pretty good for its price
@crunnch246 Hey I apologize for not taking a proper screenshot of my settings for you! But I have made a part 4. I've made up to 6 parts, but I haven't edited the rest yet. :( Hardly have any time!
@wesam9871 Hrm I don't think I have a problem with pixelated shadows? It might be because I may have turned down a certain setting, but I'd love to hear your fix just to keep it in mind. :)
@crunnch246 Yes, again, this is also available knowledge via Google. It is a program that allows you to record whatever it is you're doing on your computer; screen casting. It is derived from Frame Rate Per Second.
I'm an a Mac so I don't use the program, I use ScreenFlow.
@crunnch246 I don't think a graphics card has much to do with making something HD, it's more of your monitor...but I could be wrong. You should Google this question for a better answer.
Can you make a video to show us what graphics settings yours is on, because im planning on buying the same graphics card as you for the sims 3, on a pc my specs are;
2.5GHz
4GB RAM
Windows Vista 32-bit
Do you think i could run my game on all high settings with no issues?
@crunnch246 I'm currently on my laptop right now & I primarily make these Let's Plays on my iMac (which is at home & I'm currently living away from home for school), so it'll be a while for me to actually take a screenshot of my settings.
My laptop runs this game on almost all high settings (I turn down the tree details because I don't really care about it) & it has 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB of RAM, & it runs perfectly fine.
@coochi6 I think that most of it is on high, I can't remember. I might've turned down the detail settings on trees, but I may have turned it up for the videos. If anything, I'll make more with the highest settings. :D
How is the performance on the iMac with respect to playing Sims 3?

@TiffRomance Hmm, I guess. Thank god my brother knows computer building. I do hope it helps! Because I get like 20 FPS D: And the settings are low.
PerfectScenery 1 year ago
@PerfectScenery Reallly? That's such a shame! Have you downloaded any custom content that may be slowing it down?
TiffRomance 1 year ago
@TiffRomance Not really, I've gotten the same FPS since then, but whatever! It runs okay. Sucks you can't change the graphics card on iMacs D:<
PerfectScenery 1 year ago
@PerfectScenery Of course you can! You'd just need:
1. ninja skills
2. soldering iron
3. new graphics card
4. Zeus on your side
I'm really surprised that it doesn't do so well on your iMac. I played the Sims 3 & StarCraft 2 on the 2009 iMac & it ran perfectly fine for me without any problems.

@TiffRomance Hmm, do you think I should sell my iMac since my cousin needs a desktop for college? Plus, Macs are going to get upgrades soon!

@TheBeautifulScenery Chyeaaaa. I'd wait until it upgrades though, of course. :) I wonder how much better they'll be. :D

i also wanna say do you think an ATI RADEON 5670 is better than a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS considering my specs;
4GB RAM
2.5GHz
Windows Vista 32-bit
which do you think is better?
lmao sorry for bein annoyin :P

@crunnch246 The Sims 3 has the ability to record your gameplay, but it may slow your game down. You can also edit it fairly easily I am told.

crunnch246 1 year ago
@crunnch246 All of my videos are not HD. For some reason only the first one is. I think it's because I didn't crop it correctly.
