I first saw the Cable Guy when I was a kid. One of his best movies. Funny as hell and sad at the same time. Ben Stiller did a great job directing this movie. Carrey is a legend.

@killercroc89 I heard that Judd Apatow wrote most of the script, but Stiller took all of the credit. Oh, and yes, it was a really funny movie, but somehow it gets jokes made about it all the time. The same thing happens with the Kevin Costner films 'Waterworld' and 'The Postman', when they're actually not that bad.

I agree - one of the best movies. People said it was too dark and Jim's character was way too creepy, especially towards the end of the film. That's why it didn't do well in the box office, but it's a cult classic now. It's a great movie.

Ben Stiller and Matthew Broderick were the ones to blame for someone disliking The Cable Guy. The script and direction were terrible and Matthew Broderick looked he was asleep through half the film. Jim Carrey was funny and creepy though.

NO the the reason why it is underatted because the timing was all wrong, if he had done this film after say The Truman show's success, people would have got that there are more dimensions to him,. Cable guy followed "Ace ventura when nature calls", and people just weren't willing to except jim as anything other then rubber faced funny man that we loved from in living color at the time.
