This is the best kind of belly dance.

    The outfits are nice too.

  • Great stuff! A pleasure compared to the overly technical dancing so much seen in other clips.

  • i LOVE THIS! I don't see enough videos of this type. Thanks for posting.

    They are very good dancers!

  • now this is what it's all about!

not 'who can show the most cleavage without getting arrested'!!

    great stuff!

  • Magical performance - very beautiful and inspired. Their coordination is outstanding.

    Superb video.

  • Why does this Saidi dance look so different from the ones I see on youtube? They're not holding any canes...and what is the difference between Saidi and Assaya? I love this video..everything about it.

  • saiidi is the name of a dance rhythm. it is generally heard in the music to which dancers dance "raks assaya" or cane dance. The dancers in this video are from the Reda Troupe in Egypt. Mahmoud Reda is well known for creating beautiful folkloric choreographies like this.

  • Thanks for the info! and thanks for showing me your video!

  • no prob! i'm really glad you like this style of dance :)

  • the saidi rhythm comes from the saidi region of egypt (upper egypt) and there are 3 sorts of dance for this rhythm .1st with the assaya (cane), then the simple saidi (as shown at the video), and then there is also the tahteb which is a duet cane dance .. like a mans battle ....

reda was the first one to portray these dances on stage for the egyptian publice at the end of the 50's

  • this is soooo beautiful!

  • omg, this is beautiful <3

  • Refreshing to see this, puts you back in time, beautifully danced

  • That was SOOOOOOOOO awesome! I didn't even care that it was only a minute and a half long! :)

  • i love this song and it's so beautiful when also the boys dance on this song with the sticks...

  • They're so graceful. This is beautiful!

  • That's Mahmoud Reda choreography alright, his dancers, and his background. I also know some of his dances. They are easily recognizable by these factors.

  • Beautiful!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!

  • Edeelo!

This is real belly dance ya gama3... :)

    Go Egypt <3

  • absolutely wonderfull!

is this a choreography of mahmoud reda or farida fahmy?

  • It's Mahmoud Reda - I know he taught it to me! Whee!

  • didn't you read in the About this Video section??

  • WOW love this dance and outfits so elegant I can easily learn this. The music is very nice as well. Nesrin is also a very common name in Turkey :D

  • Thanks for sharing this video!!!

    Amora dance

  • Also I will like to add that, after beeing professionally Oriental Dancer from 1994, I see this type of dance Saidi and very specially the modality Folkloric as the origens of Oriental Dance. In some way belly dancing is a fantasy of Folkloric dance

  • Hello!

This week I have been twice to see the show of Reda Troupe in Baloon theatre in Cairo.

Now i was watching this video when i did realise the style it was very similar to them, after seeing the video i read the info next to it, then i realised the coreography it is from Reda as they are reda dancers!!!

  • You are SO lucky and I am so jealous!!!!! I wish I could have seen the show ...

  • i like this kind of bellydance more then the commerciel one

    good work (Y)

  • This is not another kind of bellydance, and the other is not commercial. This is just a different rhythm, and it's danced in a flokloric way, that's all.

  • when they were referring to "commercial" they probably meant "nightclub" ... of course, it depends on where they are from. They may also have meany Am Cab which I would DEFINITELY describe as commercialised.

  • This is the most genuine I've seen so far. Thank you.

  • now this is what bellydancing is

  • beautiful dance

  • this is us EGYPT, great dance and performance, we r the roots of belly dancing and all anceint dancers r from egypt.

  • Beautiful. Home.

  • Wow! Perfectly in time and so joyfull moves! I think it's Eccelent!!

  • Bravissime.

  • just WONDERFUL!

  • Wonderful . The Saidi classic :)

  • SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful moves ,in time and they looked like they loved what they was dancing to , brilliant!

  • that's right, you watch and learn from the egyptians

  • so true! You watch and learn from the Egyptians

  • does this video have a particular song?

if so id like to know!:)

  • This is a ballet-style of saidi.. Not my taste, anyway, but nice in its cathegory. A bit of a snake charmer, I would say...

  • When Mr Reda taught this choreo, it was to Raks Baladna too. His style in of course distinctive in all his choreo, which is why the Reda style is so lauded and recognisable for decades. And frankly, I would never call him "the ... guy" but only because I have immense respect and affection for this amazing teacher, dancer & choreographer.

  • este video lo amo, no me canso de verlo.

  • The moves they are doing here are almost identical to a dance by the same guy, and the same dancers, to a song called Eiwa ah (sp), that I have learned at my studio. He definitely must have his signature moves that he uses all the time. Not saying it's bad, just surprised to see the same moves almost to a totally different song, and by such a famous choreographer. Hmmm...

  • Absolutely stunning and inspiring. Thanks!

  • Yes the distictive Mahmoud Reda style...beautiful and as always flowing!!

  • Before I even read the text within 5 seconds I knew that was a Reda choreography. Mahmoud Reda is the best, anyone would be lucky to study with him or any of his students.

  • Love this and thank you for the information. So these are teachers from Egypt?

  • The dancers are Nesrin and Inas, Egyptian Reda troupe teachers. Nesrin is also a teacher of Aida Nour's popular Nilegroup Festivals in Cairo.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow. so synchronised!

  • I love it... too bad they didnt use a stick, I love that too...

  • i hear what you're saying, but just because the rhythm is saiidi doesn't mean you have to do raqs assaya...

  • This is a choreografie Mahmoud Reda teaches. I was in his workshop in Brussel 4 years ago. He is een splended teacher and choreographer. The song is called Raks Baladna and contains four different styles: fallahin, saidi, nubisch dance and Ismaila dance. The dress these girls are wearing is SAIDI style. The fallahin style of dress is a very wide colourfull dress!

  • Excellent information! Thanks for sharing ... :)

  • this is the saiidi choreography by Mahmoud Reda from a video that he sells. I think it's copyrighted.

  • To really appreciate bellydancing (raqs baladi) you have to be in the same room. You feel the energy and you can appreciate it every move.

  • in egypt, the people that dress that way are call falaheen(pronounced- fell-la-heen) but they dance alright...the music is to old stylish

  • I thought they're dresses where saidi style, aren't the fallahi dresses much bigger and longer?!?

  • Loved the outfits, not too many of their style on youtube.

Dancing is fantastic, the dancers were wonderful together!

  • Mr. Reda has that wonderful gift to really directly translating the music in such a unique way! Love you, Mahmoud!

  • My favorite video, Reminds me of my teachers style ,lots of traveling steps .

  • Wonderful!

  • for the love of god, if anyone knows the name of this song, PLEASE TELL ME SO I CAN DOWNLOAD IT. thanks.

  • You can PURCHASE this music at any store that provides music of Mahmoud Reda. Song is unknown.

  • i really love this dance. its so classy and they arent trying 2 hard. very well done. i love this song too!!!!

  • Yes, they look like they are thoroughly enjoying themselves.

  • What a breath of fresh air this video is. Fab. Thanks.

  • i love em, are the grls dancing egyptian or?

  • I believe they are Egyptian.

  • This is the famous Mahmoud Reda´s choreography, hilwa!! Yallabinaa!!! Shukran Masr!

  • I love this video. I have been trying to learn the steps, anyone know where I can find the music they are dancing to? Thanks

  • Very good!

  • this is my favourite bellydance video in my space...

  • It's important to note that Saidi style is specifically from the Saidi region, and although it is a classic Egyptian Folklore, I wouldn't call it THE only Egyptian Folklore! :)

  • From my point of view this is what Real Bellydance is about!!! It has a lot of culture!! love the way they dance, very energetic!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!

  • Very nice, the dancers have lots of carisma!!!Love the classic style!!!:o)

  • Beautiful!

  • Wonderful example of Egyptian Saidi style dance! Thanks for sharing.

  • wow i have to say that was beautiful. my favorite style is egyptian.

  • It's very similar to the "girl next door" dance. Simple and honest I would say ;)

  • yay lol im egyptian...i would say this is classic but verry gooooood

  • Reda is a classic!

  • Love it, true Egytpian style! Adorable choreography, I love Reda! If you can't get to Egypt, he travels the U.S. teaching plus he has videos.

  • its saidi style...the music is saidi as well...dunno the composer tho

  • it's me again, Do you know what style or category of dance this is? Is it tribal egyptian dance? or just eyptian belly dance? Also, can you tell me what kind of music this is, or the composer?

  • This is classified as Egyptian Folkloric dance (Saiidi style) which is part of oriental dance, though not overly popular. When the general public (and beginner dancers) think "belly dance" they think cabaret style (commonly known as AmCab in the States).

  • i don't know the composer...but I believe "Saidi" style is Egyptian folkloric style, as opposed to Egyptian Cabaret, which is less bouncy and characterized by smooth, flowing and controlled movements. Also note that in Saidi style, the shimmy is executed by twisting the hips front to back quickly, as opposed to moving the knees to create an up-down hip movement like in Turkish, Lebanese, and Egyptian Cabaret styles. It is a very energetic and engaging style, IMO. I love it!

  • Belly dancing is with one dancer, and tribal is with two or more. So this is tribal. But I don't know the name of the song or the composer.

  • where did u get that idea? there are no rules on the amount of dancers that both styles can have. get your facts straight. this is saidi egyptian style. not tribal

  • hehe. heh. hehe... funny.

this is folklore, not "tribal", which is an american invention (which is fine and everything, just don't mix them up)

  • This is NOT tribal....Tribal is an American creation...not Egyptian. This is Egyptian Folkloric.

Tribal can be with 1 or many dancers. And bellydance certainly can be with more than 1 dancer...ever hear of the Jamal Twins????

  • Yeah, actaully that I have looked more into different raks sharki styles, I can tell the difference between american, and different root bellydances.

No, I havn't heard of the jamal twins. I have to look it up sometime.

  • omg, that was so beautiful - the ending was so unique - i'm in tears!!

  • great, love it, one day i will take a lesson in egypt!

  • speechless one again the Egyptians illustrate the wonder of belly dancing btw is there a belly dancing world championship?.

  • wow that was good. they were very in synch with each other.

  • would you expect anything less from Mahmoud Reda? :-D

  • ;-) Right.
