  • Yes...they did make it smoother and laid new track...plus the original drop was raised 20 feet...they've neutered the ride in a lot of ways.

    Check wikipedia

  • Lousy vid of a decent ride.

  • @sjtom57 well if you read the video description, that it was filmed in 1996, then you'd understand why the quality of the video isn't up to par. -_-

  • ALL of you who complain that Six Flags tore this down - OPEN YOUR EYES!!! IT'S STILL THERE - RIGHT BY THE ROAD. They've maintained AND painted it. OK, now then - take back all those mean things you said... 8^}

  • i operate this! =]

  • Now THIS is a REAL video to watch...I LOVE hearing the clacking of the chain as the coaster climbs the hills.

  • Man I remember I went on this right before Six Flags bought them out. Sucks they tore that ride down. That and Rocky Point were my favorite parks to go to when I was little, if anyone even remembers that park.

  • @jumbopeanut The Ride Is Still There. Six Flags New England Owns It. Its Up And Running Fine. It Must've Been Re tracked Because It Doesn't Feel As Bumpy As It Does In This Video.

  • That coaster beat me like an ugly redheaded stepchild many of times.

Yet I always jumped back in line for another ride.

Its a shame they tore it down.

Fuck Six Flags and fuck the big cooperations!

We will take this planet back....

    Peace

  • Okay I take what I say back I rode cyclone today and I have to say it was the most fun. I wish I was able to ride the old one. I have rode this coaster many times before, but for some reason I really enjoyed it!

  • Okay, for one. Everyone is complaining about six flags "destroying" the old cyclone. Who cares! I would rather have bizarro, mind eraser, batman, mr. sixs, and flashback than a shitty old coaster. Bring back riverside, yeah right. They would go bankrupt in a week. Thank you SFNE for your new better rides,

  • @quicksilver2xj7 I agree, but you have to admit, Cyclone is still pretty fun. But Bizarro beats it any day. (I like Mind Eraser and Batman, but I think they are really short and are over too quick...)

  • I went on this at six flags

  • I also remember seeing something in the Enquirer about a person getting impaled on one of the beams...it was a long time ago.

  • This is a fun coaster. I rode it the year it opened. You were really strapped in with the bar and shoulder harnesses... the next summer all of the restraints were gone (except the lap bar). I don't remember anyone falling out but I seem to remember something about a guy hanging on 80 feet in the air - I also heard he climbed out the car at the top of the lift hill. The National Enquirer had something about it. It's a great ride but a litle rough. (Instant headache when you get off)

  • I love this coaster but it kills my back. I don't even have back problems, but it still makes it sore for a bit. So unfortunately, I can usually only do 1 or 2 runs on this thing in a day.

  • When did it become SFNE?

  • I was not at the park when it happened...but it was on Channel 22 on the evening news the day it happened.

Yeah...some guy got thrown out of the cars on one of the turns.

  • @danieljh stupid that never happened

  • @acquaz10 No Acquaz10...YOU are STUPID...It did happen. You were probably too young to remmber.

  • God I loved this coaster...haven't been on it since about 1992. I remember the day that some guy got thrown out of it being all over the news.

  • really? were you there>? now the place is sixflags

  • @danieljh he prob tried standing up :P

  • Great video! Bring back the park! Six flags sucks!

  • Yeah I remember that park too. My first roller coaster was Thunderbolt, then Black Widow was my first loop coaster. They also added rides like Hell-a-vator but took out the old train that was elevated like 15' up. The only ride, to this day I've ever gotten sick on was the Rotor! Cyclone was good too! Too bad the race track is gone.

  • omg, i remember when the park was just reopened as six flags NE and tht ride hadnt changed yet and they still had the tunnel and everything, but everytime i go on this ride i pray to god tht i dont die goin up the hill, or tht the train doesnt jump the track, lol, but it is a fuckin classic

  • Thanks for this video. Great ride until it got neutered. I remember riding the first season it opened, waiting in the old tunnel line for over 2 hours and being scared to death watching the train crashing around the course. Finally got on and was more horrified at the numerous seatbelts including an over the shoulder one! And the ride was just as horrific as it looked, intense and brutal but totally fun!

  • did that guy lose his keys?

  • Went to Riverside park in the late 70's as teenager to play the pinballs and ride the Thunderbolt, Wildcat and the one loop Coaster. Still remember Boston "More then a feeling" cranked up on the Matterhorn ride. Cool place and it only cost 5 bucks for ride all day pass.

  • Haha.. I live down the street from Six Flags NE... I grew up at Riverside Park and to see it change absolutely broke my heart.

I remember when I was 2 or 3 And the Cyclone first opened. My Dad waited in line for 3 hours to ride it XD. Its a fun ride.. very bumpy and painful. Lots of bruises and bumps. And the tunnel to exit... One of my first jobs was selling the photographs of people on the ride XD

    Thanks for posting!

  • yup it changed in 2000, I wish they would bring it back

  • Oh - and gave it PTC trains that were are still are far too heavy and stiff for a coaster this intensely twisted. It just doesn't navigate the same way.

  • You can just tell how much better the ride was before Six Flags slowed it down and mutilated it. Argh.

  • Riverside was cool. I went to Riverside twice in 1999 and I already saw signs of Six Flags merchandise in their shops. So I figured they sold themselves out. So sad.. now I try to avoid going to Six Flags and spend my fun at Canobie Lake Park. :P Riverside traitors!

  • Thanks for the memory of a great ride before it was thoroughly destroyed by Six Flags.

  • This was one of my favorite coasters when I rode it back before the trims! When SF just bought the park and it had PTC trains =)

  • First View, Too Bumpy
