  • I feel smarterer

  • defs drunk

  • this is called a standing wave.

  • WOOOO DOUBLE RAINbow !!!!!

  • that's soundwaves more resonance of the things around making sound wrather then resonence of water

  • wats that song?

  • Uh.thats just vibration gene-us! If this was res. it would be separating etc...

  • ur a dum fuck!

  • wow u guys are nerd..but its cool

  • umm...yeah.

  • resonance, so strange that such a property of math would impose itself to the world in so many ways.

  • The eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility. --Albert Einstein

  • @subach Its the other way around. Physics tries to explain how reality works, and uses Math as its main language. So Math is actually an way to express ideas and theories rigorously on how stuff works. The fact that you can see it on this glass of water its only a small demonstration that it indeed suffice its purpose.

  • @felipenfranco I wasn't referring to physics as a field of study, but rather to the fact that the world is by its nature analog in its range; it is therefore odd that we find things which line up so neatly on rational fractions like 2:1. As well as the fact that Resonance was discovered in math before being observed in nature.

  • @subach Oh, now I understand your statement. Quoting Galileo Galilei:

"Mathematics is the language with which God has written the universe."

I share this view with Galileu.

I am an undergraduate Math student, and this science keeps impressing me with its deep relations within itself, and specially with the way nature behaves.

  • excellent, reminded me of my PDE class. beautiful indeed.

  • It's a beautiful thing. In my favorites there is a video of - non-Newtonian liquid - responding strangely to pressure. I'm glad that it doesn't fall from the sky.

    Cheers!

  • It's ooblek! I used to make that when I was a kid. Very cool.

Have you seen ferrofluids? They're magnetic liquids that form anemone-like spikes following magnetic field lines. I put a video in my favorites of them! I have 2 liters of it right now & I'm trying to make a nifty science display for the public.

  • Same as custard walking.

  • -.-
