First Year Technique: How to Shift on a Double Bass

closing my eyes, it was very difficult to tell a tonal difference between your A and B notes on the D string and G string. Very nice. I'm talking about the beginning of twinkle twinkle. The tone and/or timber between my d string in that higher position and the a and b in the lower position on the g string is noticeable even if it is slight. What strings are you using and which thickness or gauge?
