This is a weird little example that might be wrong. With Ethernet it's listens on the line before sending and if the line is busy it waits a random amount of time before sending. Think of it this way if your on a bus and someone is in the isle you have wait until they are clear before you can move right? Same hing kinda applies here.
these videos came from the testout labsim CCNA course, there is a 30day unlimited access trial for 1st time users but if you want to purchase it afterwards it costs $250 :@
with Hubs and switches i believe that it mainly depends on the size of the network, if there are many users connected in the network it would be advised to use a Switch, for a switch uses a fastforward method where it keeps track of each computer in a hierarchy table, so insted of broadcasting to every computer(using up a lot of memory, and creating collisions)hubs are becoming obsolete(i have an exam tomorow on this)switches are also use to help connect to different servers and internet
This is a logical topogoly not a physical topogoly, this describes the inter workings of a bus logical topogoly and very poorly at that. It should be titled Logical Bus topologies or something like that. But your question is different your asking I think how to set up a LAN or something. Switches by the way are more complex then hubs, they require much networking programing skills to operate. You should consider a hub although unsecure and slow they work great in many small environments.
@chucknorris687 I know, but the quantity of information displayed in that comment in comparison to all the other almost mono-syllabic posts, well, it's just amazing! Keep up the good work! By the way I'm an I.T Teacher, and I think this video is simple and straight to the point, with simple visuals, which really helps to get the message across.
nice video
