im a filipina, and ive been to okinawa for the 2nd tym around...OH I LOVE OKINAWA very much!! I love their traditional dance and the whistling songs, and the young group of people their, who bring instrument they r really GREAT....LOL!!!

By the way this dance is a traditional Okinawan dance and back then during the ryukyu kindom back then before the wars and stuff and when they had a king and queen this dance was preformed in court so pratically it was a type of dance preformed in court!!!!!!!!! i know that cuz i live in okinawa!!!!!

Reading some of the comments are so lame. This hat is not heavy it is made from bamboo and bent to form the shape of the peony. The dance is Udui Kuwadisa and isdanced with two bamboo shaped castanets. The song is about the Kuwadisa tree. The more dancers wearing this beautiful hat and bingata kimono the more splendour it looks from the stage.
