@robertmike219 You ever think your gps is wrong? ive hit 180 exactly with 3 different gps' and they all gave different answers. One 163, 174 and 172. Ive done dyno and it shows my k5 (the fastest 1k out) hits 190 in 5th.

@odonnellracing As you can see this road was very quiet and the 2 HGVS on the video were never "endangered", the Only person at risk was the rider himself, Had this been recorded on a busy bit of road or a residential area then i'd totally agree with you, But it wasn't, nobody but the rider was "endangered" and with respect if you dont like it then don't watch it!

I concur, 177 flat out in 4th is MPH, would be near 270kmph. It looks slower than that due to the wide angle lens on the cam.

While I have little experience upon the GSX-R1000 (only rode it two or three times), my R1 is making roughly the same power and weighs the same (ie. the power to weight ratio is the same, making the acceleration given the same engine type practically the same)...and I get to just over 100 in first...and will hit 160-170 in not too long after this guy did....and I can GUARANTEE that I'm fatter than the guy in the video (due to sheer chance).

@Trevski220 Yeah, I'm rather new to very high power bikes like that. I'm having a lot of trouble keeping the front end down. Even if I get it smooth of the line as the power gets into like 6 or 7k it lifts, then again at like 11k...then I shift and don't clutch gracefully enough and it lifts in 2nd or 3rd.

It's annoying because I can't let the bike go balls-out.

I love the bike to death, though, it's incredibly sexy, handles well, and has the low end torque I like.

@Trevski220 It's not enough, and I'm quite heavy. I think I just got to get better throttle control, hammering it too quick will lift.

Though I'm not sure what to do about the rather steep lift at like 10k - but that will only happen in 1st. The problem is if you let off a bit and try to get back on it'll snap back.

Think about it, if a bike ways 400lbs, and say a car, a Honda Civic weighs 2800lbs (and that's a light car), the weight ratio is 1:7, that is, that light ass car weighs 7x as much as the bike. Now, say there's a rider/driver in each. He would have to weigh 7x as much in the car to be equal in terms of the weight ratio as the guy on the bike...so 150lb guy on a bike = 1050lbs in a civic. Unfortunately the difference is magnified hugely :(

@Adzamable The weights I gave were simulated curb weights with no people - so just think, even if the bike was 600lbs (450 for the bike, 150 for the guy), that's still a 4.6:1 weight ratio, meaning if the guy was say...225lbs, that would be the equivalent of 350lbs extra in the civic - which is a lot, just going from a skinny guy to a built guy. Now I'm fat...need i say more ;). Sure, my 0-100 is still stupid fast and I can pretty much smoke everything, but it's not AS fast as other R1's.

This bike does in excess of 105MPH in First, Although this was filmed in France we are english our Speedo's read in MPH, Why dont you check out a video of any other GSXR 1000 on you tube and see what it does in 4th you'll note that any reading in KMH will show 260 KMH+ in 4th gear, Now run along little boy and come back when you have a clue what you are talking about

177 kmh is only 110mph.....2nd gear will EASILY see that off!

I completely agree that an F1 car is faster ( Though in V8 form as they now are the highest speed recorded is 348KMH at Monza the lowest drag circuit) But an F1 Car is designed clearly for optimum accleration hence the shorter gearing, A 1000cc sportsBike has a over long first gear ration purely to make it usable, if it was geared to do maybe 80 in first it would be completley impossible to use and keep the front wheel

Read any bike mag review on the GSXR 1000 or any other 1000cc bike and you'll see that the 0-100 mph times vary from 5.2 -5.8 seconds, lets take your kph argument 177 kph is 109.9 mph, This video takes about 16 seconds from 0-177, so knowing as e do that 0-100 is 5.5 seconds, you are suggesting
