I thought it was my hamstring but now I'm pretty sure its my glute that I pulled. Its been nagging for about a month, when a week ago I tried to race with it and it got messed up again. I want to run by two weeks from now. What should I do?
Gluteus Medius strengthening is one of the primary methods of alleviating and preventing ITBS. There are many other things one should do during the rehab of this injury, especially to help with the acute symptoms.
i think ive gotten my hip hike and mild 10 degree scoliosis from the wayy i put my left ankle up on my right knee when i sit down...could this be possable .. if so what do i do.. im 16 and the doctor said it shouldent progress more but all im reading on hte internet is that it could keep progressing till my early 20;s...
a 'functional' scoliosis can be created by poor postures and can be made worse as you suggested. your job, since you have analyzed a problem in you posture, is to correct this and build up your core strength to stabilize your spine.
a true scoliosis is congenital and cannot be made worse so easily. this type of problem can still be helped by doing good things with your body such as proper posture and strengthening.
what is the reasoning for strengthening Glut Med in horizontal abduction as opposed to normal hip abduction with the upper leg parellel to the lower leg???
there are many ways to strengthen this muscle. everyone has different needs and different levels. therefore, variety is important. also, this is a particularly weak movement for many who are otherwise strong.
Would piriformis be recruited in this motion?

@aj010139 In this position the Gluteus Medius works in isolation because the other abductor, the TFL is shortened when the hip is flexed liked this.
