I thought I'd seen all Gauntlet stuff until now! Has anyone else seen the Gauntlet BOARDGAME! I think it may have been magnetic (maybe not), and came in a small package like magnetic mini-boardgames. I sorely regret not buying it! I'm pretty sure it was Woolworths that sold it for a short period of time in the early 90s.
@razourik Eh, they kind of do. You had your Grunts, who looked pretty much like these club-swinging brutes. You had your Ghosts, who also looked like these ghosts (but minus the hands). And then you had your Demons, who were red and...yeah, the commercial screwed up the Demon here. This Demon looks more like a crocodile man. But hey, he could have looked worse....
So anyway, back to the video, I'd never seen this commercial. It looks pretty sweet for its time. But is it just me, or does the Valkyrie's sword change from a broadsword to a curved sabre once her three friends show up? :-/
Little things that we D&D nerds like to pick at. :-)
Man, I rarely could find three other players for Gauntlet! I don't think I managed that until Gauntlet 4 came out for the Sega Genesis. I was in the Air Force, I had four controllers, a multi-tap and three bored fellow Airmen, we were in west Montana, there was nothing better to do..."Hey, let's all play Gauntlet 4!"
Naturally, two of them played Elves and the third played a Wizard, so my Valkyrie had to take point while they hung back, shot stuff and stole all the food.
ok i was at the resturant fuddrukers in missouri went to go pee and saw a 3 game arcade and it had gauntlet there it was a whole fucking dollar so i used up like 5 dollars lol it was fun tho and and it was gauntlet legends...
i remember playing this game in the arcade of playdium a few years back, it was simple and i loved it. i even was able to play a version of it on starcraft
Well holy shit I almost forget about this commercial. I still remember my folks taking my Brothers and I to the arcade and this one along with Qbert were my favorites to play at the time. It was a great time to grow up as a kid in the 80's. Back then playing video games meant having to get up and leave the house!

Something about the animation style in this commercial reminds me of Aeon Flux and Creepshow 2.

Oh, like that's common knowledge. Come on. You need 10 ranks in Knowledge (Arcana) just to know that the blade even exists.... :-p
