  • @bj1aut

I am still wondering ... WHY Aiello and van Omen where so good in STW and in BTCC they where one of the slowest .... and they where fighting the SAME CARS ... Honda, Nissan, Audi, Opel(Vauxhall) ... i dont get it

  • @adakar83

The 406s in germany were run by the works Peugeot sport squad from France. The team in Britian from 1992 to 1996 was run from the Peugeot factory in Coventry. In 1997 and 1998 the cars were run by a company called MSD under the leadership of the peugeot sport guys based at the Coventry peugeot factory. I dont think that the budget was anythig like the major teams like Audi, Renault etc had. There were discussions about Peugeot Sport France supplying MSD with cars but it did'nt happen

  • @bj1aut

    Continuing:

Peugeot Sport France did'nt want to supply an outside company with their cars as would be giving tthier secrets away. MSD (motor Sport developments) was very much like a Prodrive, RML etc specialist motorsport company. What I would have given for the STW Peugeot team to have entered the BTCC, they would have walked the championship!

  • @bj1aut

But the bizzare thing is that MSD used "Peugeot" and "Total" brands ... they where competing as Peugeot in manufacture championchip. That is strange, that Peugeot gave them green light for that. One thing is when you use the car as private (like Hoy - Laguan or Cook - Accord) and other when you start as manufacture.

But the same thing is for other commpanies ... Ford, Renault in STW, BMW in BTTC ? Why not ? And what about Volvo .. why they didnt expand ?

  • It beacause MSD had Peugeot's backing. In the same way that Schnizter, Bigazzi and one or two others have been BMW works teams in various super touring championships over the years. Of the top of my head examples of 'works' teams being run by different companies are:

Vauxhall: Dave Cook, then Ray Mallock, then triple 888.

    Ford: Andy Rouse then Prodrive.

    Alfa Romeo: Alfa then Prodrive.

    Honda: MSD the Prodrive.

    BMW: Schnziter the Prodrive.

    The list goes on.

  • Supertouring needs to come back , maybe in a form that's not so expensive, but it needs to come back.
