Besides there are videos here about a sheik on Al-Jazeera saying that 6 million Africans leave Islam every year. Also excerpts from a BBC programme called "Dispatches" which shows churches where worshippers worship in Urdu, Farsi and Dari, most are ex-Muslims. There is also an audio tape here of 2 scholars admitting that 75% converts leave.

It is about modesty- sexual modesty and privacy and keeping the body a sacred space- not just a tissue covering the head. Honestly, why do you wear clothing to cover the parts of your body you consider private? Why do you consider those parts private and not others? And why do you resent it when other people define for themselves what is private and sacred and only for their spouse?
You can have sexual modesty and respect of yourself without wearing the hijab.
It's toward others that you express modesty, not with a piece of tissue, at least for me.
The hijab represents something too material for me, in contradiction with the spirituality religion should involve.
if really your faith is deep and sincere, you don't need a piece of tissue to express it, and you can show much modesty in the way you behave, without delegating it to a piece of garment.
That is true, you don't need any outer object to reinforce an internal belief. There are practices that matter to individual people, however, such as concealing private areas of the body. In this instance, I think you and I simply differ on what is a private part of the body. I imagine- though I could be wrong- that you cover up your genitals in public. Why? Is it only to keep warm? If you aren't cold, why not walk around naked? It is simply a different interpretation of modesty.

Besides there are videos here about a sheik on Al-Jazeera saying that 6 million Africans leave Islam every year. Also excerpts from a BBC programme called "Dispatches" which shows churches where worshippers worship in Urdu, Farsi and Dari, most are ex-Muslims. There is also an audio tape here of 2 scholars admitting that 75% converts leave.

A Muslimah needs to wear it as a sign of obedience to ALLAH & not man! Islam is religion from Allah not a man made religion like other faiths. It isn't the way you conceive of faith, but you aren't the one making the decision to wear hijab. It is about modesty- sexual modesty and privacy and keeping the body a sacred space- not just a tissue covering the head. Honestly, why do you wear clothing to cover the parts of your body you consider private? Why do you consider those parts private and not others? And why do you resent it when other people define for themselves what is private and sacred and only for their spouse?

You can have sexual modesty and respect of yourself without wearing the hijab.
It's toward others that you express modesty, not with a piece of tissue, at least for me.
The hijab represents something too material for me, in contradiction with the spirituality religion should involve.
if really your faith is deep and sincere, you don't need a piece of tissue to express it, and you can show much modesty in the way you behave, without delegating it to a piece of garment.

That is true, you don't need any outer object to reinforce an internal belief. There are practices that matter to individual people, however, such as concealing private areas of the body. In this instance, I think you and I simply differ on what is a private part of the body. I imagine- though I could be wrong- that you cover up your genitals in public. Why? Is it only to keep warm? If you aren't cold, why not walk around naked? It is simply a different interpretation of modesty.

Would you please explain why you would use this argument when you don't believe Jesus ever hung on the cross? And second, since Jesus was quoting Ps 22:1 on the cross, isn't rather unlikely that both the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament are wrong using Eli, a Hebrew word, rather than Allah, an arab word?
